I'm in the 'seek drugs prior to procedure' camp!
I, too, had an unannouced uterine biopsy, no meds given, following a uterine ultrasound.  My results came back showing hyperplasia (described by the GYN nurse as 'cells gone wild'), likely from the extra estrogen our fat little bodies produce, but no cancer cells were found in that specimen.  Pathology requested a repeat specimen so my GYN put me on progesterone and told me to come back in 3 months.
Well, it's been longer than 3 months... I'd rather just go straight for the Out damn uterus, out!, but don't want to do that until I lose some weight.  Vicious little cycle going.
You may have only discomfort, or you may have serious pain.  Not to scare you, but I'd err on the side of pain and ask for something to take the edge off, first.
Good luck.  Chances are, it really is just a hormone thing going on from weight loss and all those circulating hormones released from the fat cells.  Keep us updated, please!

Oh Jenn...sending you a hug!  I know that seems so scarey but I really think the weight loss is the most likely cause! ..and you will know soon.  YOu are smart to get this checked out to rule out anything.  When are you having your biopsy?  I wanted to let you knwo that I am thinking of you and sending hugs to you.  I just know you will be ok!

Hi Jenn.... I am in the middle of female hell right now too and will be seeing my OB/GYN sooner than later I think... they are watching me now...

I also had a biopsy... and I also have never given birth (adopted though!)...

It sucked, but it wasn't that bad for me... It was unplanned so I had to drive myself home and all... I was sore for a day or so, but not horrible.  They had me on prometrium for 60 day s after that to make me have a period... man did it work... it was SO bad they had to give me some high powered drugs to make it stop.

They wanted to do another biopsy... I just never went back... bad choice, I know. That was about 4 years ago :-(

Now I don't know what they will do with me, but if the bleeding will come under control then they want to wait 3 months or so to do anything... let my body adjust some before they start messing with it too... frustrating, but if things slow down then I am okay with it.

It is bad enough that I am taking 600mg of ibuprofen at least 3x a day with my surgeons blessing... he doesn't know what to do with me either... :-(

Hey Jenn-

I can't remember when my periods got bad but I think it was Atkins diet that started the increased flow.  Then when I lost 60 pounds on WW I started giving birth to easter eggs and major long periods.  Had a trip to the ER one time while on vacation, imagine having to call the EMT's lying in bed writhing in pain and blood all over the place.  Are you pregnant Maam?

Anyway it took a year of trying hormones until my local OBGYN finally did a biopsy in the office.  It showed hyperplasia and for quality of life he recommended a DNC with ablation.  They scrap out the uterine lining, then fill it with a ballon filled with water saline.  This basically cauterizes the lining and reduces the amount of flow.  The clotting was immediately resolved.  The flow petered out.  About two years later I had to have another DNC to biopsy the lining again after having a small period.  All results were negative.  Doc stressed my quality of life.

I'm having surgery on Monday and I am worrying about an onset of periods having not had one in two years.  Surgeon says it's possible as the fat cells shed estrogen but I'm not too worried.  Hang in there and be glad that your doctor is doing the right thing in checking.

I just went through this.  Super heavy periods as in bleeding through my clothes in two hours.  I had an ultrasound and they said I had a fibroid.  My GYN decided to do a biopsy just to rule everything out before she chalked it up to weight loss and fibroid.  The biopsy wasn't too terrible.  They gave me Tylenol before they did it and it only took about 20 seconds to actually do the biopsy.  Don't get me wrong, it was really, really uncomfortable and somewhat painful but it was really quick.  I was sore for about two days after.  My biopsy came back absolutely fine.  No problems.  She decided it was the weight loss and fibroid causing the problem.  We decided to try the Mirena IUD to try to slow down and regulate the periods.  It's only been a month since she did the IUD so the jury is still out on whether it helped or not.  She said it would take about 3 months to regulate.  I'm sure everything will be fine with you.  I know I can say not to worry, but you will, as would I.  Please let me know what they find out.  Best wishes!

Just had a D&C July 12Th this year. My uterus walls were thick to. They scraped them they did a biopsy also. Every thing came back normal. They also had to remove a fibroid that was coming out of me.

now on August 9Th they are removing my uterus and left ovary I have a tumor growing on it so he has to remove it. I am scared of this surgery but know I need it. best of luck I am sure you will be fine. Take care.

My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

Thanks so much guys! You have really helped put my mind at ease, as much as possible. They told me to talk motrin (800mg) before the procedure so I am gonna do that. I have vicodin from the tummy tuck but Im not sure I should take it as I have to work the rest of the day and drive all the way to Burlingame (over an hour away) for my 6 month VSG follow up and I don't wanna A.) Crash and kill someone or B.) Show up looking like a transfer addicted hot mess! Haha…
Hope the pain is not too bad as I am the worlds biggest puss! I cant count how many times I passed out after my tummy tuck! FML
Thanks and Ill update you all as soon as I hear anything.
Love love love you guys!

I hope all will be ok with you. I also have to go do women things... I have a colposcopy a week after my surgery. I  am so terrified they will take a biopsy because even PAP smears are terribly painful.

I have had situations where the doctor's made me nervous saying they found something weird in an xray or an ultrasound in various parts of my body but it turned out to be nothing and I spent my days agonizing. So I would try to clear your mind and think of it as nothing major because you can't do anything with that stress now.

Good luck Jenn!
