My sleave is a freak!!!
I could eat all that fine. It was when I ate a regular hamburger or sausage foods with high fat in them that i dump. It puts me in the bathroom 1/2 hour after i eat like that. I only have ate sausage one time that was enough for me never again. Hamburger i have try ed 3 times and still can not eat it.
And any mushrooms or onions cook in butter or promise butter it is to much fat for my system. You may never have a problem if not your lucky.

I am a little over 4 weeks out and I haven't had any issues with any food. And Kanga I to was allowed to have chicken at 3 weeks out as long as it was soft and I chewed till a paste. No ill effects and I feel much better with my energy now. Back to the doc on the 25th. I too don't eat more that 2oz or so at a meal, and it takes me about 15 minutes or more to eat it. Slow and easy the Nut and doctor said.
people are different. I wasn't cleared for these things until a month, but if you are eating tiny portions and chewing well and feel like you hav good restriction, I wouldn't worry. I assume your doctor has cleared you for these foods now. I was more on mushy stuff like scambled eggs and greek yogurt at this stage. my surgeon says you are fully healed at one month. Diane
Gosh, now I'm scared... leaks? I trusted my doctor and NUT to lead me in the right direction... I had 2 oz of chicken breast last night... yummy, no problems... but am I really putting myself in danger? My doctor said that in the literature 99% of leaks happen in the fist 8 days.... but still, I managed to have complications once... I don't want to be the part of the 1%...
Does anyone have any research on it???
Thanks!!!

LEAKS HAPPEN IN SURGERY....from cutting. SURGICAL ERROR!! ya know ya signed on the dotted line knowing the risks of surgery when you were admitted!

Leaks
Leaks after SG occur in up to 1.4% [60] of primary procedures and as many as 6.25% of revision or second staged operations [90]. Clinical studies have yet to prove that the use of fibrin glue, staple line buttressing materials, or oversewing decreases the chance of leaks. Evidence suggests that a switch to smaller stapler height near the angle of His, where the stomach tissue is thinner and most leaks occur, may help prevent leaks [187,190]. Many surgeons favor leaving a small “dog ear" at the angle of His, and not hugging the gastroesophageal junction.
SG can generate higher gastric pressures, and leaks may consequently be slower to close [191]. Gastric decompression and good drainage are the mainstays for controlling leaks, but reoperation may be required if patients are not hemodynamically stable or develop a chronic leak. Those with leaks may present with tachycardia, respiratory distress, fever, and perhaps a “feeling of doom."

some more info on LEAKS and STRICTURES on my blog.
The rate of US leaks I thought I saw in 2009 ASMBS report is a tad over 2% Strictures 1. sumthin % Embolism, Bleeds less than 1%...Have the link somewhere or google it. Makes sense tho...so many more VSGs are bein done now that its legit!...n what with this obesity epidemic! Everyone's lookin for a way OUT! the chance of comps is STILL pretty dang low!
On toleration...as my NUT emblazoned on my dietary manual.
TOLERATION OF A FOOD DOES NOT MAKE IT A GOOD CHOICE!
3 years later them words are STUCK in my head!
Me ...I couldn't tolerate HAMBURGER MEAT until I was almost a YEAR OUT. I kept testin them waters tho!... it became mentally averse...like drinking during meals got
First 6 months....HURT ME BAD! could do steak, prime rib, carne asada, roast beef NO PROBLEMO...hamburger /patty
I even dumped on a 1/2 can of ground beef chili no beans! I was 5.5 months out...
come to find out...lots of us have problems with hamburger early out...."coarse edges" scrapin the crap outta our innards I guess. That CAVEAT to red meat w/ coarse edges was in my program manual!
Now..for you...yer surg has cleared ya for that stuff (my didn't)...yer toleratin it just fine...no pain, no gastric probs..go with it!
IF I was havin a problem, concern, complaint followin MY
I'd take it up with my NUT!

Thanks for ALL of the great info as always!!! I really wasn't having a concern until I kept reading about everyone else....... I'll talk to the NUT, but I'm sure she'll say the same thing as last time... it's so crazy how different the advice is! I wonder if it is more streamline for the other surgeries that have been along a bit longer?
And go figure... I don't think my complication even made the list... my sleeve got kinked. sigh.

I have never had problems eating anything post op, but like the others, I wasn't allowed to eat real food till four weeks out..
I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!
