 Ann,

Thanks for the compliments and comments.  You are kind.  You can do it girl!!!  It is still very hard for me to post pics of me in a swim suit especially at my age!!!  Keep rocking that sleeve, eat protein, drink water, watch your carbs and exercise and the weight will come off.  It is definiately a journey we are all on but it has been so rewarding for me to lose this weight (finally!!!!) and maintaining is the most reward because in the past, I've always regained my weight.  I hope and pray you much success in your weight loss journey.  Let me know if I can be of any help to you.

Vicky,

First of all - great pictures and great job at rocking that sleeve.

I am 18 months out & doing that 5 pound bounce.  Seems like I am retaining water these days (heat, etc) and I am at the upper end of that 5 pound scale.

Around the 12 month mark, I found I could eat a lot more - my sleeve had more capacity.  I'm especially fighting the "eating monster" in the evenings.  Any tips for us trying to be sucessful maintainers?

Thanks,
Mini-Me

 Mini -

First of all -- thanks for your sweet compliments and comments.  It is still very hard to post pictures of me in a swim suit but I think it shows the weight loss better.  I was really brave to post the first one in the blue swim suit.  No one ever saw me in a swim suit!!! LOL

Yes, I do bounce around the 3-4 pound bounce.  I really think it is all water weight and depends upon just how much salt I've had in the day.  I don't worry about it too much but if I see the scale jump up over 3-4 pounds then I really watch what I eat and in a day or two the pounds come off.

I too have to fight the head hunger monster at night.  I try really hard to keep dense protein in my tummy because it keeps me full and I have less head hunger.  In the evening I will have a sugar free popsicle or some raw vegetables and dip if I want to eat out of boredom.  I have to watch the carbs really well -- seems like that is what causes me to gain.  I don't hardly ever eat sugar foods like ice cream or candy or cookies.  We just don't have that in our house -- my husband has had the VSG and he doesn't crave sugar either.  Our downfall is those nasty carbs!  I have set a goal each day to not to eat any carbs after 2:00 p.m. including fruit.  At night, I only eat protein and vegetables.  So far this seems to help me maintain my weight loss.

I hope I have helped you in some small way.  Let me know if you have any other questions.  Continue to do what is right, work your tool, eat healthy, exercise and drink water and the weight will stay off or better yet, continue to lose!  I wish you much success in your weight loss journey!

You look amazing! Good job!!!!! i have a question, i am 1.5 months out and seem really hungry like an hour or so after i eat. I am doing my best to get my protein in, and trying to keep my carbs under 40. I even changed my PPI to Prilosec which seems to help a little bit. But ive only lost like 3 lbs in the last 2-3 weeks and feeling down on myself. Can you tell me how much you ate when you were a month out, and how often? And was your weigh loss slow?

First of all -- thanks for your comments and compliments.  Congratulations on having this amazing surgery.  I was eating very small amounts at 1.5 months out.  Go very, very slow in adding your foods back.   You may just want to eat small portions of protein every few hours if you are feeling hungry because if you keep your tummy full of dense protein, that keeps you from getting hungry.  You may be experiencing "head hunger" which is very common too.  The first 3 months were the hardest for me in getting adjusted to the sleeve. By the end of the 6 month period most of my weight was gone but I still continued to lose inches.  Please do not be hard on yourself -- this is now your lifestyle.  I tell people that are considering this surgery that they will never eat the way they use to eat. They can eat anything they want, just in very, very small amounts.  But be careful of your carbs.  They can sneak up on a person fast.  I gain if I eat too many carbs!  I hope I've been some help for you.  Let me know if you have any other questions.  I wish you much success in your weight loss journey.  You will get there -- just do what is right, eat healthy, exercise and drink water and you will lose and maintain your weight.
