When would I know I need to go to hospital???
i'm not suggesting you shouldn't go to the hospital if you need to...but i experience was horribleeeee chest pains from gas. i had to make myself burp for the first week to feel better. especially after drinking and when laying down. i was short of breath walking around and randomly started my period which still hasn't frickin ended. it's like a marathon period. i was on the pill for like 5 years but had to switch to depo provera for the surgery, so random periods could be due to the shot or hormonal changes due to weight loss (i lost 28 pounds in 3 weeks-surgery 8/4). i also didn't have a bm for almost a week, and even then (tmi) it wasn't solid. probably because i wasn;t eating solids. if u had surgery 8/22 there's still a normal level of pain for the first week. they told me if my temp spiked, i had a severe pain in my leg, or had severe abdominal pain to go to the hospital. hope you feel better!
Hi there,
I am not giving you medical advice, just my story ok?I had my surgery May the 20Th, that was a blessed day for my future, thank my Lord. I was also like you scared that something else was going on with my sleeve, so I went to the ER and everything was fine, I don't know how many times I did this, I probably drove my friends on OH crazy. But going to The ER eased my worry. All was find. Just getting the peace of mind was worth the wait, I was low on potassium and dehydrated a few time. I had a very hard time getting to know my sleeve so I threw up alto and sometimes still do today.
OK, as far as the bowel, this is the truth, I DIDN'T GO FOR 3 WEEKS. I ended up in the ER again. My Dr has got me on AMITZA it is wonderful, I take it 2 times a day. If I need to go and haven't went for a few days I take one before breakfast and wait about 1 or 1 1/2 hrs, drink water. That makes me go big time. So you might want to talk to your Dr. about AMITZA I think it is new and not harm full, safe as far as I know. I have problems all my life with my bowels so this med is a God sent to me just like the sleeve. I tried juice all the works that is suppose to help, did not work. Walking is helpful also. I can't answer you about your period, haven't had one for awhile. But just to make sure, if your Dr. won't check u out go to the ER.
I hope you start feeling better and you will. God Bless
Evie

Okay you just had surgery. Are you just going through the list of possible outcomes or are you really having those types of symptoms? Are you taking your lortab (liquid pain reliever)? Using Gasx? Try a heating pad over your abdomen for a short time.
For the other end, you are only on liquids so I wouldn't expect a bm. Have some warm tea. But if you really think you are constipated glycerine suppositories work fast. They look like tiny enema bottles.
But geez, if you really think there is something wrong, call your doctor or go to the emergency.
