Has anyone tried this bread called Smart Carb #1.  It is 109 cal and 12g of Protein per slice.  Thats alot of calories, but WOW on the protein.  I have not had any bread since surgery.  So I may try it.  You can find it on JulianBakery.com .

Please let me know if you have tried it.

thanks

Jane

i ordered a loaf of the # 2 and while the bread isn;t that expensive aaand I confess I left it in the freezer so long it got freezer burn so can't rwally comment on the taste, the shipping wea 12.00 which is prohibitive for meYou might could order more loaves to justify the shipping,IDK. The Whole Foods in my area don't carry it,either.

I've tried their Smart Carb #2 cinnamon raisin bread. (137 cal, 2 net carbs, 13g fiber, 14g protein). Both times was TOM, and I NEEDED a carby fix. It's SOOO YUMMY!

I toasted it, sprayed with some butter spray, and sprinkled with cinnamon and a packet of truvia. YUM! I really like it, it tastes like the real thing! The other time with with a T. of peanut butter (again, toasted). It seems like it breaks sort of easily, again, why I toast it.

It has great flavor (no weird low-carb after taste like other stuff), it does have a dense texture, and is VERY filling... I can (at most) eat 1/2 slice, but 1/4 is more like it.

I keep mine frozen (it doens't have preservatives, so will go bad quickly)... while I don't think it should be a regular part of my weight-loss diet, I do plan to have it once I'm at goal. (Think cals and total carbs).

I haven't tried their other flavors. I live in So. Cal, and bought mine at sprouts for around $6/loaf. For 16 or so slices, and only using it occasionally, that loaf will last a long time.

Just looked at their website, it shows that Albertson's and Whole Foods also carry it, might be helpful for those of you that don't have Sprout's.

Thanks so much for this post! I decided to do a little research on this and it was rated as 2011, best low-carb bread! So, after reading what people had to say, I ordered the amazing sourdough and the Smart carb #1. I read great things about both of them and love sourdough on a grilled sandwich. Thanks for bringing it up! I have searched for a good bread and have always come up short. This is so highly reviewed and full of protein, I can't wait to try it.

Also, I found on line a coupon code. It is 1776. My total was $14, then the $5 off coupon made it $9 for two loaves of bread. And, the shipping fee was only 50 cents! So for $10 bucks they are sending me two loaves, clear across the county. I wanted to try both, but I did think maybe someone could order one loaf for the $6 and use the coupon and try it for almost nothing. That's worth trying it at least. They must be pretty confident you will be back after you try it., which is a good sign.

Here's to hoping we all will have a great low-carb bread to enjoy!
On my way!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing the coupon code! I saw the sourdough at the store the other day... sounded delish! I'm too early out to really be eating it (ha!)... but I did love a good sourdough bacon cheeseburger back in the day. I'm thinking I could conjure up something very WLS friendly!

Post back and let us know what you think of your flavors.

LOL... I know, right??? Exactly why I bought the cinnamon raisin flavor... b/c I know if I have the protein bread, there will be NO ROOM for anything to go with it! Ha!

It's yummy, but too heavy for my tummy right now. Hoping to add it back in, though!
