From what I've read from the ASMBS guideline for nutrition and vitamins for bariatric patients, this particular choice is mainly lacking in the iron, Vit K and Vit B6 department. Of course, your doctor/nutritionist may give you a better recommendation and you should monitor your labs post-op especially about 12 months out and beyond.

I don't ever tell anyone to not take something, but I'm a big advocate for trending labs, and taking the very best option for your needs. The only time I'm vocal about vitamins is when the argument of Flintstones and gummies come up then and only then I chime in. And, even then I only do because so many people come back a year out from surgery with labs that have tanked and they wonder why when they've been taking kiddie vites.

Thanks for that....I recently received some celebrate samples in the mail.  The chewy calcium was so yummy!!! I have decided to order that when I run out of what I have....I will probably just go ahead and get the multi vit too.  I get my first labs in 6 weeks.....so I will see what is lacking with me.  I get all my nutrition through food and have since almost 2-3 weeks post op.  I also get over 100 mg of protein a day....hopefully I have been getting enough iron through that and the spinich I eat.   Thanks for sharing....

Good luck ! ! ! Most of the time, just as a side note, if you don't already know, our labs look really good for the first 6-12 months or so. After that is when we really see numbers change and vary per patient. The 18, 24 and  months following are the  big ones. Of course, when we can eat more variety it's easier to not have to rely on supplements. But, I'm one of those who simply don't believe we can get enough from food even with big tummies. That's just me though.

Thank you so much. It's because I listened to the vets before me, and stalked a few of the RNY'ers(Andrea mainly) that really educated us newbies a long time ago on vitamins and trends.

You're gonna do fabulous ! ! !
