I woke up feeling the best yet, but I went ahead and took the minimum amount of pain meds because I have a two hour trip home with lots of bumps...hubby made me some hot tea and next thing I know I was dry heaving. I guess it was the pain meds on an empty stomach??

So, just a bit ago, I ate my first thing...babyfood applesauce. I got down about 1oz and then started hicupping, so I guess that was my sign to stop eating.

Doctor went ahead and released me to go home, but wants me to attempt to drink more (I got in about 50oz total yesterday)

Yesterday the milky protein shakes did not sit well with me, so today I am going to try it again. I also have to start chewable vitamins today...not looking forward to that, afraid it will make me sicky....

How the other guys and gals that got sleeved around my time doing?

Check with your doctor about taking vitamins so soon. I had to wait 2 weeks.  Also the protein shakes and fruit...

Hey Paige.  Good to see you are up and around.  I had my surgery the same day as you did.  I went home Thursday at 5PM.  I did feel pretty crappy on Friday.  I'm sitting here watching my kids playing ther PS3 and I am at 22 Oz's of fluid and 32 grams of protein.  I am very suprised at how much I can consume. If I stay on it, I can drink 16 OZ's of water in an hour.

My doc has me on full liquid diets so I mixed up a protien drink with 4OZ's of skim milk. I took my time but was able to finish in 40 minutes or so.

I am off all of the pain meds and walking around without a problem.  I did not have a drain so I don't need to get that removed.

All in all, it was an easy surgery, it's the adjustments that will be a challenge.  Sitting here watching the kids, I had to remind myself to eat.  NO HUNGER at all.  What a change!
I have had no nausia and the pain was easily managed with the system my doc uses by putting a cathiter inside you bellty around the wounds sites with a pump that delivers a local nerve block ot the sites.  I have had only 2 percocette since I have been home.

Still working the gas out, lots of grumbling going on in my tummy, so far so good :)

I will say, the trip home from the hospital was not fun, I swear my wife hit every bump..
Good luck on your drive home!

I'm doing well.  My doctor isn't introducing applesauce for 14 days post op.  He doesn't want anything with chunks or texture, just liquids.

I'm having a carnation instant breakfast that I watered down a bit and I'm fine with that.  Otherwise it's been water, watered down apple juice and different broths and I've been fine.  I'm better when I drink it sitting straight or even standing.

I got in about 50oz yesterday too.

2 hour ride that may be rough.  How are you doing getting up and down out of bed.  That seems to be my biggest problems.  I'm ok with chairs?

Hi Paige. Glad you get to go home today. I've been watering down EAS Advantage carb control shakes and they have been fine. I can't have anything but liquids yet, but have been off pain meds since the day after surgery (they made me nauseous) and am up to about 60 oz of fluids a day. Still tired but everyday is better. Good luck with the trip home

Hi Paige,

I just had my sleeve on the 5th and I am not allow to have my vitamins as of yet until another two weeks. Yesterday I was upgraded to the soft puree foods and I am taking my regular medications crushed with applesauce low sugar.  Also, I was told not to drink anything hot or cold for now everything at room temperature.

I would hold off on the vitamins they are too strong for your stomach and your stomach needs to heal first. I would recheck with the doctor.

Hope you feel better and keep on drinking the protein shakes, try different ones until you find the one you like and you can hold best.

Take care,
Diana

Hey all!

Glad to hear everyone is doing well.  I was sleeved on Tuesday as well.  I wish I could move on to full liquids or applesauce -- I'm dying for something more than clear liquids!  I don't feel hungry much, I'm just tired of the 4 things I'm allowed to have.

I have to go to a post-op class on Tuesday, where they'll let us eat for the first time and advance our diets to "as tolerated."  I don't have to take vitamins until then.

I'm not feeling any pain or nausea at all.  I'm pretty much back to normal today, honestly.  I think I could tolerate applesauce and vitamins.  I find that if I start my day with some warm herbal tea, my sleeve is happy.  I didn't take any pain meds at all yesterday.

My only problem is that I'm feeling constipated.  My surgeon didn't require a bowel prep before surgery and it's causing me issues, so I took some Miralax and some Benefiber and will up my activity today.

I think I'm going to venture out of the house today, because I'm going stir crazy and need the exercise and fresh air.

I like hearing how everyone is doing, and seeing the similarities and differences in our plans.  I'm stoked to have lost 10 pounds since surgery!  Tomorrow I'll probably be under 250!!!!  This is already worth it.

Hello everyone,

I was sleeved on Wednesday morning and I went home on Thursday afternoon. I am not meeting my 60 oz of fluids. I hold a glass of liquid at all times but still cannot consume everything. My tummy loves hot tea, so I try to drink alot of herbal tea.

I am still taking pain meds because my pain tolerance is low. Overall, I am doing well. I am glad to be on the losers bench. I am thinking of going to the store with hubby and child later. I don't know if I can walk so much but I will try.
