Paige,
This is fairly normal. You just had your surgery 6 days ago. You have huge changes going on in your body right now. Theres also a good possibility you could still have some anethesia left in your system. The weight not coming off could just be fluid retention. Try and get as much rest as you can, but definitely get outside and walk as well. Mr. Smith is right! As soon as you can get some protein/fuel in...you'll feel much better!!

Hang in there kiddo, it gets better every day!!

Thanks Dragon girl,
I haven't been on pain meds since I left the hospital. I will call my Doc to see what is up. Even my big toe itches.

I didn't bounce back quickly either and it frustrated me.  But it sounds like you are doing really well on fluids... the protein will come in time.  Maybe try mixing some of your protein with some water.  That way you can still count the liquids, but the protein will be thin enough to go down easier.

Hang in there.  It DOES get better!  Oh - and don't go back to work if you don't think you're ready.  The first few days could hit you hard, so take caution.

I went to the doctor yesterday to go over everything and he mentioned that he removes the part of the stomach out of a larger incision on the lower right side. He said it is usually the most painful area after surgery, because it gets pushed around so much trying to get the size of a grapefuit out through a 1 inch tube.

Could this possibly be your reason for pain?

I'm not sure if it's the reason for her pain, but it certainly is the reason for mine. OUCH!
I feel like I been forcefully stabbed on my right side. Especially where the drain was.

Girl! I'm right there with you on the fatigue! I'm pretty much done with my day by about 4pm... I'm going back to work on Monday and hoping it will help me get through this stage. By tuesday I'll get to eat soft foods, and I'm hoping that will get me an added boost! I'm good to just get my fluids this week b/c nothing has tasted good to me! All my protein drinks are gross, I even gagged on my multi vit the other night. Ch ch ch changes! We just gotta help each other get through them!!

So, about the scale... I know you've seen folks talk about this on here so I'll be brief... Don't weigh every day! Even if the numbers not moving, your body is changing! I know it's hard, but commit to once a week or twice if it makes you feel better!

Keep pressing on! These stages are only temporary!

Wait.. We can have yogurt???

I would love some. I have been on only water, broth and sugar free juice- can't tolerate the protein either except for half a can the other day...but not going there again since it made me feel icky.

Hi I'm Diana! I'm 5'10 and hoping to get down to 165 :) Feel free to friend me!

It depends on your doctor but mine diet allows yogurt (low carb, preferably Greek), sugar free pudding & jello and low sugar ice milk (just a little bit).

I hope this helps.
