When is it safe to start vigorous exercise?
I wouldn't do any of that for at least a month and a half after your surgery. Walking is as much as you should be doing. It's better to be safe than sorry. But of course your surgeon is the best one to ask.
I started Zumba a few months ago and have loved it. It's the first exercise program that has actually "stuck" with me. It's way more fun than walking on the treadmill.

My surgeon says nothing strenuous for at least a month but you can walk or do light exercise within two weeks of surgery. Personally I have cheated and danced and done modified exercise and felt fine. I am thinking about doing some Zumba sitting down but I definitely wouldn't do Zumba until a month after surgery at least or your surgeon approves it.
i was cleared to start ramping it up some on the third week, though pool work waited another week due to some lingering seepage on the incision. I resumed my strength training after that third week but kept the weights down around half of pre-op levels and used the machines to isolate the core to avoid stressing the abs that early; the doc wanted to wait 12 weeks before seriously tickling the abs with crunches and the like.
