Very observant of you !!!

Sounds like you got a great sleeve !!!

Uniform is very important for food flow and not promoting reflux.

Lots of problems are caused from sleeves being to tight at the curve....

thanks!

One of the reasons I chose my surgeon (other than his great stats and experience) was because of how he described his technique and why he said he did it that way, so I was very happy to see the proof that he did what he said he was going to do.

Does your surgeon feel the contrast material itself promotes bleeding?  For me at least, I just had to do two swallows of fluid while standing up that weren't any different from how (or how much) I would swallow water.  Maybe there are other ways of doing the test that cause higher pressure?

I did not have a post surgery leak test.  My surgeon does it while he is still in there.  Seems counter-intuitive to me to test for something after you have the opportunity to fix it.  You sure you were not leak tested during the surgery?

My surgeon doesn't do them anymore..... he says it can promote bleeding.

If you have a leak....In most cases it can't be fixed on the spot.... It's very tender tissue with three rows of staples and very hard to isolate. Aggressive immediate attempts at repair can cause more problems. Slow healing is the best way to fix a leak in most cases.

Revision on 01/13/14
I had a leak test on the 3rd post op day. I wasn't allowed anything by mouth before. Once everything was clear, then I was allowed some water.

Revision from sleeve to RNY is set for January 13, 2014.

I didn't have a leak test either. Not while I was awake at least.

I've heard of a lot of surgeons only doing them in the OR right after surgery. Mine did one then and one the next day. Blech! Just count yourself lucky that you didn't have to drink that horrid stuff the next day. I still have flashbacks about that.

My doctor did the leak test in the OR after surgery.  I asked him when he did the leak test during my preop visit before surgery.  I was glad he did it in the OR! I wasn't looking forward to drinking barium and staying the the Hospital longer.
