someone here posted a stuffed mushroom with goat cheese (i am sorry for not giving credit where it is due, I cannot remembe r who is it was.) Anyways, it called for goat cheese.

I have never had goat cheese so I have no clue what it is like..and hubby says it smells funny to him. So is there an alternative to goat cheese that would be as good?

I don't think it smells funny at all! It's like cream cheese. I would give it a shot. I make a pear salad with goat cheese- well I used to all the time. Can't wait to be able to eat salad again. Anyway, I don't think it smells weird in the least, maybe he was thinking of a different cheese? It's super low-key compared to almost all other cheeses that are odorous.

Goat cheese is actually very mild and hardly any odor. It's awesome and your hubbie will love it, just don't tell him that's what it is and he'll never know.

Goat cheese is awesome!  I'm unfortunate intollerant to it and it makes me very sick when I eat it.  I love it so much sometimes I still eat it and pay the price.  Take a chance try something new.

Those were my mushrooms and I'll be honnest it was the first time I used goat cheese for them.  I normally just top them with a little grated parmigiana, but I got brave and tried goat cheese last year on a bus sines trip and discovered I like it.  I do think it smells yucky...but when it's cooked its wonderful.  The mushroom caps have very little room, so you cant get much in anyway with room left for the sauteed mixture.  If you left it out it would be OK.  You use parmigiana or feta....maybe even ricotta...

My family won't touch any mushroom so, they were all mine...and I am not complaining ...they last in the fridge for a few days so I get to keep enjoying them.
