37 Hrs till i'm sleaved .. and now what do i need to know
Most important thing ? Just give yourself in to the process. Let the nurses and doctors take care of you. Don't be too brave, and if you are afraid, ask for something to calm you down. If you are in pain, ask for pain meds. If the pain med isn't working demand something else. And then allow yourself to be a patient, to be post op from major surgery; and give yourself permission to sleep and heal.
I brought a couple magazines with me. My cell phone and charger, my own slippers and fuzzy socks to wear in the bed. Chapstick is a major must have. Other than the usual tooth brush and stuff that was all I needed.
Take care, and you will be fine.

Good luck to you!!
l didn't do anything but sleep and walk. On the second night l watched a little XFactor on tv, but l had no inclination to read or talk... we are all different, though. l used chap-stick only like once - the nurses brought me those little mouth sponges, which worked much better. lf you are really hydrated before you go in, all the better!! The hospital also supplied me with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothbrush and toothpaste, and the infamous socks.
l just got sleeved Wed morning, and honestly feel really, really great. The first day sucks. No doubt about it, but l still only had a pain level of 5 at the most. The gas pressure and the loopiness mixed with nausea from the surgery is what stinks. Every minute gets better!
Walk and sip, walk and sip!! Best of luck to you! l'll scoot over on the bench for ya.
