Wow!  That's really a lot of insight.  I don't identify with all of it but I definitely identify with some of it.  Thanks for sharing.

I guess everyone has already said all stuff I wanted to when I read this. I just needed to second all of it. Just learned not so long ago that my son is autistic and this actually puts both my issues and his in a clearer light, so thank you.

Dear Jennchap,
I have autistic twin boys.  One who almost has an understanding of self regulation, the other, we're still trying to make him aware of his rocking or hand flapping, etc and give him alternatives to regulate.  It's almost like they are not aware until you make them aware.  So your post hits home.  As I have watched them develop and grow, through their various therapies, my learnings have been that my obesity is caused, most certainly from a lack of self regulation on some level - totally agree with you.  Heavy stuff, and you hit the nail on the head!

I can SO TOTALLY RELATE to your previous eating habits -- it's like I wrote that myself!! And I always struggled with how to "label" it. I wasn't a binge eater. I didn't obsess about food. I just didn't self-regulate. I didn't consider what I was putting in my body. Some days I wouldn't eat at all. It's like you took the thoughts right out of my head and put them on the computer screen.

Wonderful thoughts from a wonderful lady. And I love the photo.. it's very fitting of the entry.
