How soon can I return to "normal" activities

I was wondering how long it would be before I could return to normal activities (specifically sex)  I know everyone is different but how long on average does it take to feel like intimacy again? I know the doctors office mentioned not lifting over 5 lbs for 4 weeks but I forgot to ask about other activities. Any info will help. Thanks in advance.

 That might still be in the hospital lol.

My doc's guidelines are quite specific - when you feel like it (though most of the RNs suggest at least waiting until you are out of the hospital!) Obviously you should not do any of the more challenging positions or movements that overly stress your abdomin or are otherwise uncomfortable. But the basic activity doesn't seem to be a concern for most docs.

I'm so glad you asked as well...now that I've seen the responses, hmm now I have another question.

I had surgery on 11th Oct and am happy to report that I am fully functional when it comes to bedroom.  Hubby was more nervous then I was as he was scared of hurting me. Just over 2 weeks was my number but I have had a great recovery with no pain. Each person is different, when you are ready you will know.  Depending on how you are feeling it may be benificial to try positions that do not place any pressure on abdominal area,  use your imagination  ;)

My doctor said whenever you feel ok to do it.
