Measuring food

How can I follow the plan when it's still nearly impossible to consume 1 oz of anything that isn't liquid. I follow the high protein no carb food selections however for example...I had grilled chicken pieces and I placed them on the food scale and the scale didn't move. I couldn't even finish that portion of food so how do I record that, How can I keep an accurate food account for the NUT and surgeon.

You need to get an ounce scale. $5.00 at bed bath and beyond. If i were to put a quarter of a bite of chicken on my scale it would move or you could put your serving into a 1/4 cup measure and see how much of it you eat.  Clearly your scale is one that deals more with higher denominations.  Either way measure 2oz eat what you can and eyeball to see what's left then record it.  OR the cup measure.  Good luck

You should be measuring by volume not weight.  The only time 1oz by weight = 1oz by volume is with water. Different materials have different density.  Generally, if something will float, it will have greater volume than weight in ounces.

A tablespoon (actual measuring spoon) is 1/2 oz by volume.  1/4 cup measuring cup is 2oz by volume (4 Tbs).  3oz of dense protein (meat/cheese) is generally about the size of a deck of cards.

I'm the same way. I did buy a scale that reads various measurements, but mainly use the oz. the most. I measure 1 oz. and eyeball what was eaten or you can measure what is left over. Usually I can only get in 1 oz. or even less of dense protein. For example I read the serving & take an oz of that, if I only eat half I log .5 or if I eat more I measure whats left & log it that way on myfitnesspal!! Hope I didn't sound confusing!!

I see your from Clevland. I'm originally from Lorain, Ohio. Lived in Cleveland only for a year or so to finish school in Willoughby.

Hope I helped a bit!!

Good luck

You need a scale that will measure ounces and grams, they are pretty cheap. I ordered one off amazon, escalie I think is the name (or something close to that LOL). I measure out my 2 ozs eat what I can and then measure the leftovers so I know exactly how much I ate.
