Holy crap, a size LARGE dress!

Ok, so I have no true concept of my body, I still look at it and look at clothes on the rack and think "no way in hell is that going to fit" and most of the time if I try it on, it's too big.

So I have been searching and searching for a dress for a pretty formal wedding we are going to in December and I could find NOTHING, didn't even try on most of the "cute" dresses b/c I figured I could not wear them.

So my aunt comes over with four dresses, she is a size M/L and I was like "no freaking way" but she forced me into dresses I would have never tried on, and you know what THEY LOOK AMAZING, in fact they look so good I am having trouble deciding which one to wear (maybe I should post pictures and have you guys help me LOL).

So the moral of the story is, until your mind catches up with your body you are going to be looking at things with your "obese brain" so if you like something on the rack TRY IT ON, it might fit and look fabulous!

Congratulations on this uplifting discovery.  You are so right about not a clear body image.  I just got into a size 14 jean and when I took them out of the dryer.  I put them in my children's stack of clothes.  I didn't realize they were mine!!!!  I know you'll steal much of the bride's attention at the wedding.  ENJOY!!!!!

That is fantastic! It is hard to get over that feeling of nothing-will-fit from years of being obese. The cure for me has been to TRY ON EVERYTHING! lol I put on a large jacket last weekend in a store and it was a bit baggy, so I actually grabbed a medium and it looked so much better (except in the arm length...ugh...what I would give to just be a few inches shorter).

Yes, I want to pics to vote on!! I'm nosy!!! lol

Enjoy!

I am sitting here in a size 18 jeans. Granted they are a bigger sized 18, but three months ago I had a hard time believing that I would ever be back here. Today is the day for NSV's I guess ;)

I am right there with you! I walked into Dress Barn and went right to the "Womens" section that had about four dresses I would even consider trying on, and the sales woman was like "Honey, those are all going to be too big for you, come on the other side" and I was instantly overwhelmed with the selection of dresses that opened up to me on the "regular" side of the store (but I still could not find something I liked!) LOL

I know you feel awesome about that size Large. Keep up the awesome work. I completely agree about the overwhelming selections of clothes that are available to you on "the other side" . This is exciting to me because I use to browse that side and wish I could wear some of the things that are over their. I know with the sleeve that dream will come true. I am now in a loose 12 and can fasten some 10's but I am not quite ready for that yet.

Try on all of the dresses and let us vote, I bet this would be fun.
