The fates intervene, an update on my saying good by to a pet post....
I think that maybe the fates wanted me to post yesterday to hear all of your stories and support, because last night Casey (my doggie) had a massive seizure. Normally her seizures only involve her fore or hind quarters, but last night it was a whole body affair, it was scary and prolonged and I thought that just the strain from it was going to kill her, she usually has a period of bewilderment and uncooridination after her seizures, but I noticed that the right side of her face was dropping after this one and her tongue was lolling on that size, her right leg would not work and even her tail on that side seem to be acting funny. We (myself and the vet's office) are pretty sure she had a very bad stroke either right before or during her seizure.
She can't chew or drink, and she can't bear her own weight today without my help, so today is the day. I am sad, but I took so much comfort in your words and support yesterday that it's not as devastating as it could have been.
We gave her two and a half good years of life, you see she was a rescue, her owners where getting divorced and neither one would take her so they where going to put a seven year old dog with health problems into the shelter. I could no****ch it happen, so I took her home with me and made her a part of our family (who DOES that to a seven year old, large dog?).
Anyway, here is a picture of her with her best friend (our other dog Molly) -

And with her second best friend, my two year old Matty (and yeah, he is OUT cold in this picture LOL) -

She has been a good ol girl. The ability to help them over is the most wonderful/****ty honor we have, I think. I am glad she took all question away about it, so you dont have to poke yourself in your soft spot about that.
You are and have been loved, Caseygirl. Tell our friends hello and that we miss you all.
And go roll in the deer **** as much as you like. Nobody's gonna fuss or make you shower afterwards. :}
*squeeze* girlie. Much love from this house to yours.

I am so sorry this is happening to you. A month and a half ago, I lost my 11 year old poodle. She was doing just great and all of a sudden had a stroke and passed away in my arms. I miss her so much. Pets are part of the family and give us so much joy. I had Chiquis (my poodle) cremated and have her paw print. I hope you make the best decision for Casey. Did you put her to sleep? Good luck to you!
Hugs. Wish I could give you a real one.
So tough, but she has let you know in her own way that you're making the right choice.
You've given her what you could for a good life. Know that and cherish the memories. The Matty picture alone should help with that - what a great girl to put up with that!
