Ok so, my surgery is 12/28 and wondering about the pain after surgery. I know everyone is different, but can anyone give their experience with the pain? I think I handle pain pretty good but still would like to know.

I personally do not handle pain well at all. I woke up a few hours after surgery and was on morphine, but for me, it didn't touch it and I was in a lot of pain. They brought something else, but it just made me feel nauseous. They then phoned the anaesthesiologist and called in a pretty intense pain killer. It was Mexico, and the doctor told me it was something we didn't really use in Canada, it was mostly for veterinary purposes, basically a ketamine. Honestly I couldn't have cared less, it did the trick and I slept like a baby.

The next day I just had some gas pains that made me stop in my tracks, but after that, it was all fine, and I could manage it on the Torodol they gave me for pain for the week after surgery.

Most of my pain was from my drain.  Once that was removed I was fine.  About 8am the morning after the surgery they gave me tylenol #3 and that was my last pain med.   Everybody is different but based on my experience, I wouldn't worry about pain.  Good luck!

I think I have a moderate pain tolerance threshhold, and I didn't really feel too bad pain wise post op. I remember waking up and feeling so incredibly nauseated, which drowned out any other pain. I kept begging for nausea medicine while I was in the hospital and never used the viccodin they sent me home with. After about 4 days of being home, I did have some achy soreness on my large incision where the stomach was removed. All in all, not too bad. They can give you meds for pain and for nausea so to me it was all well worth it. Best of wishes to you!

I was in some pain coming out but they quickly got it under control for the rest of my stay. I took roxicet for two days to be comfortable to sleep. I sleep on myside and that was hard. The gas pain was the worst it does stop you but its only temp.... the thing the hurt the worst was throwing up... OMG avoid at all cost. I refused to brush my teeth for two days for fear I would gage myself again.

I had my sleeve on 11/2.  When I woke up from surgery most of my discomfort was scrathy throat from the tube.  The foley was not fun either, especially walking with it in.  I wasn't shy about using the pain control button either.

My surgery was on a wenesday.  By Sunday I had thrown away the pain meds they gave me.  I was back at work on Monday.  I had some little sore spots from the incisions.  All of my residual discomfort was gone within a week.  My incisions are still healing.  Right now they look like scratches on my stomach.

I expected much worse, was pleasantly surprised.

I really didn't have any"pain" just a sore stomach like I had done too many situps.
I didn't have a drain either so I'm not sure about that.
They were giving me pain meds regurly , but they made me throw up each time they did. Finally I said no more on the second day and never had any more.
