I could really kick myself...

I don't know WHAT I did today but I am not happy with myself ONE SINGLE BIT!!!!
We had a congratulatory lunch for an employee today and I grabbed a piece of pizza and ate the top of it (NO BREAD) but I do not know WHY I did it (I miss pizza very badly).
Then I cannot get the hang of eating slowly...I try to chew 30 bites or more at a time but I end up swallowing so dag-blasted fast.
I just don't get it sometimes....
Some days I do so well and then other days I just feel like I am doing every thing wrong...
I just like posting here to make myself accountable.

So I am writing this so I can start over right now, I am going to do this right and if I do slip up I will get right back on track.

You are HUMAN which is why you did it.

Decades of poor eating habits don't get changed over night. You do well some days and worse others, its kind of a learning process.

It doesnt make it a good idea..but many of us have eaten too fast, ignored full signals, those kinds of things. I personally have eaten too fast/too much and vomited. And learned from it.

You know what you should do. Dont be so hard on yourself. Follow the rules, if you dont, the next time is another shot at doing it.

The hardest change for me was eating too fast/not chewing enough. I still struggle with it on days. A year out. I still use baby utensils to eat because it slows me down (shh, i like them too!).

Telling yourself you can never have X again can self sabotage.  On occasion, in the future, you can have small amounts of things you like. At least thats MHO.

Thanks- I tried explaining to my husband that I WILL have a bite of rice, maybe not right not but one day, and that I WILL have pizza again one day and he tries to tell me NO---maybe that is why I rebelled against him today :-)

I was using a baby spoon but maype I will invest in a baby fork too (I am using my daughter's baby plate right now).

Thanks again!

When you're up to your ass in alligators, it's difficult to remind yourself that your initial objective was to drain the swamp!

If it feels good, do it!  And if it smells good, eat it!

Yeah, I had a tough time with eating slow as well. It was the single hardest thing for me and at 8 months I still mess up. I do dish myself tiny portions so if I eat to fast I won't overeat, but I keep trying to get better - and I am much better than I was at it.

It's important to realize they operated on your body not your head. Then realize that the topping on a piece of pizza is really not a super horrible food. I've done that on purpose, just not often.

Stick with it. Try to do better every day. Be a little gentler with yourself, maybe?

My doctor does things by the "slow and steady wins the race" theory. He's told me I can eat pizza toppings ever since he released me to regular foods. He doesn't expect us to deprive ourselves of anything- in fact, he wants us to keep everything (except breads and rice that will hurt) in our diets so that we can learn and adjust while we're still fresh out of surgery. He doesn't think that there is value to depriving yourself for a given number of months and then when you re-introduce foods, you go nuts, like with any other "diet"... so don't feel bad. I eat pizza, actually with the crust, as long as it's thin and crispy.
