What do you say....when this happens

I'm sure that this has been happening to alot of you.  When people start asking how much you have lost and you tell...What do they say??  A few people have been asking if I'm done losing.  When I say that I want to lose 40 more, they say Oh no...you can't lose that much more.  Some even say that I will not look good that little.
I feel like they just are not use to seeing me small.  Or do they just not want me to be successful.  These are people who have no idea that I had surgery..They just see me working out and eating healthier.
What do you or would you say to these comments???

You know what you want look like , we all have the mind set of how we want to look in our clothes, unless it was some unhealthy weight for your height I wouldn't let it bother me , tell them you will lose what you need to be at a healthy weight that is why you did this to get healthy

I don't think people have any idea how much other people weigh.

I had a similar comment when asked how much I'd lost.  I told the person, "Almost 80 pounds," and he replied, "There's no way you had that much to lose."  I still have another 40 to go.

I think people don't know what an extra 20, 40 or 80 pounds actually looks like.  I don't know that I would feel the need to say anything other than "I'll have to see when I get there," with a shrug and a smile.

Don't tell them you need to lose any more weight. Just say thanks for noticing, and add it's so much easier to climb stairs, go for arun, get off the floor etc. something positive. They should come back with a "good for you comment"or another positive. just keep losing without them putting you in a corner.

Yeah at 160 people 5'3 people started telling me to stop. Mind you these were people who weighed 110 .  When  I'd say i wanted to lose 40 lbs people would say you'll be skin and bone.  First of all i don't think most people look at others with enough interest to gage how much they actually weigh.  also seeing someone irregularly who has lost 80lbs is shocking and one cannot imagine where the other 40 is and mostly i think because folks want to be nice by saying you don't need to lose weight, just like a lot of them did at your top weight or then they said 20lbs would make a huge difference.  I say 'I take it one day at a time, we'll see".  you know i may have been guilty of that when friends would say they needed to lose 60lbs. ' I'd say i don't see where your hiding that 60lbs, 20 maybe'.  Mostly i was being nice.  Hope that helps

When I get those comments I just say that when I get to 150 I will be at a normal healthy BMI for my height and they usually leave me alone then.  I reassure them that I will change my eating habits at that time and start eating a more balanced diet for my maintenance and most people accept that.

I have a dr friend that keeps calling me skinny now, no where near my goal. When I said I still have 90 to go they were like no way, but I said 70-90 and then I was asked who set my goal. Nutri system did when I last went to it with my frame and height. I did tell them the weight I started at which I was kinda just going to keep quiet but I am no where near skinny now and I don't want to get too skinny where I just look like all skin and bones so will adjust my weight goals as I approach them but yes don't listen to skinny people because they are not use to you being skinny.

You and your doc know what is best for you, not others who have no medical training. Just keep on your journey. It is your body not theirs.
