Those number are way high IMO. At regular food stage for me, I am still to stay under 1,000 calories, 80grams of protein and 40!net carbs. I am only 3 weeks out and have no idea how I could consume 1,300 a day unless my restriction TOTALLY loosens up or I eat a bunch of carb white stuff all the time.

My surgeon is from a center of excellence and has been a bariatric surgeon over 12 years.

I don't know if that helps, it's just the plan I have and know and trust.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you!  My surgeon is also from a COE, but l don't get the nut's advice.  l'm not going to follow this 'new' plan.  l now see why everyone there says l''m doing better than most!  l'm not following their diet!    l'm just very, very glad that l found this forum.  l know other people who have had surgery and think that they can just eat everything they want, just a bit less.  l'm going to learn from everyone, and make this work for me.  l've been eating 6-800 cals/ 40 or less carbs, all of my water and 60-90 protein.  lt's hard to get all of that in sometime - let alone 500-700 more calories!!

Thanks for your reply!

I did not pay attention to the crab thing going on. I tried to count the carbs but never did good at it. seemed every thing I eat ha carbs. I try to eat 1200 a day and I do no****ch my carbs. I might have lost slow but I have lost 130 lbs and I am happy with the way I look and feel now. My nut said the same as your nut.

Looking at my log on fitness pal I am eating and was eating around 100 carbs a day. I listened to my doc who said 1200 do not worrier about carbs do low fat so that i what I still do now low fat. I  eat red meat once a week. I eat chicken and turkey love them so much. I just found out today I have lost another 5 lbs with out even trying. I am no expert only can tell you I did not listen to the carb thing on here.

My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

I think I would have to eat all day to get that many calories in.  If I follow my surgeon's plan (3-4 meals lasting no longer than 30 min each and 20 g of protein first, with a few bites of veggies intermingled) no way do I come close to that many calories.  I'd have to purposely eat slider foods.

That said, I'd ask the nut for research articles backing up her claims of needing 130 g of carbs for muscle and brain health.  I'd be very interested to see what she came up with.

I am also intrigued by her claim that going too low carb results in difficulty maintaining your weight.  I know that for me, adding in carbs causes hunger pains and cravings for more carbs.  Low carb - I feel more satisfied.  So again, I'd ask her for research.  Nicely, of course, because I was interested in learning more about a healthy diet :)

l agree with you. l should've asked for backup, but l think l was so befuddled by the 130 carb number that l didn't think to ask at that time!  l had told her that carbs make me crave more, and that l'm so afraid of sliding down that slope once again.  This time HAS to be different. l'm going with my gut on this one, and following the lead of so many successful people.

the part that shocks me is the 130gm of carbs. That is a lot!

Do your own test. Ask pharmacist for ketostix. If you are in fat burning mode you will be in ketosis.test by upping daily by 5grams of carbs. Find your magic # of how many carbs you can have while staying in ketosis. Test on stick only in morning before you eat otherwise you can get a false reading.

l think you're right, Frisco.  l was so shocked by these numbers that l really didn't think to ask for backup info from her.  Elina was kind enough to help me out, and l'm determined to stick with the plan.

Thank you!!
