Ruggie's really horrible acid reflux - anyone experience this?
yep, been there done that had all the tests you had plus a cardiac cath(my heart is perfect, thank you Lord)
had a scope and the verdict? lost my gallbladdrer 2.5 years ago so not only refluxing acid but also refluxing bile. Got the carafate too. It binds wwith the bile and escorts it away. Caution! carafate will also bind with other meds so take it one hour away from any other meds.
I felt immensley better after the first dose. Glad you are too.
an yes, I have seen reflux(aka heartburn) bring more than one tough guy to his knees!

Yikes, this sounds so horrible ; glad to hear things are improving and it sounds like they figured it out.
Can't say I have had such an experience but I did have terrible reflux before surgeon repaired my hiatal hernia along with the vsg. That (and losing 120 lbs) fixed my reflux.
A year or so before vsg I had the endoscope procedure which is how i found out i had the hernia. Yes, they knocked me out but I was getting a colonoscopy at the same time so they doped me good and I remember nothing.
Good luck with your procedure. I am betting its just extreme reflux and will improve with the treatment you are getting.
Diane
p.s. are you sleeping sort of propped up? I have heard that can help severe reflux and you can buy these wedge shaped pillows. My husband has one due to sleep apnea.

Hi Diane -
Its so nice to see your support, thanks for posting. :)
I have a GI consultation tomorrow - we'll see if they decide to scope me or not. I hope they will - I really want to understand what is causing this, and hoping, be able to stop taking three different drugs for my throat/stomach.
I did hear about keeping my head elevated - I start the night out that way, but I toss and turn so much in my sleep that I don't think it lasts very long! Maybe I need to buy one of those special pillows. I noticed that my pain does seem to be the worst in the morning when I awake.
