Surgeon change...

I switched insurance as of 1-1-12 from my husband's company to mine.  His has total WLS exclusion, and mine had a capped fee, but the remainder was doable.
Now, my new insurance has changed, and the surgical group I was working with is out-of-network.  The patient care coordinator said they could still 'work with' me, but why pay for insurance, then not utilize it as much as possible?
New surgeon I'm looking at is affiliated with COE, but frankly I don't find as much on here about him as I do the the surgeons I originally chose, who are not COE... but do I really care about that designation, or is it like anything else that can simply be bought?
Going to the new surgeon's seminar this week.  Two friends had VSG with him just last month, and are pleased so far, but of course it's too soon to really know their long-term outcomes.
Guess I'm just posting out of frustration!
