A list of Plyoric valve veggies?

Does anyone have a list of veggies that help keep the plyoric valve closed?

I've heard Frisco say stalk veggies like broccoli,
what else works?

  • Asparagus
  • Celery
  • Cucumber with Skin
  • Radish
  • Cabbage (I’m testing this right now)

I do all of these on a regular basis and don't feel full for long.  if i eat with meat it improves but it does seem to give the dense protein less of a full life.  Just my experience.

Just curious why? Is this something I need to know and remember? Thanks for your help

Foods that keep your pyloric valve closed (dense meats) mean that food stays in your stomach longer, sooooooo you feel fuller sooner.

On the opposite end are "slider" foods, foods that will just slurp out of your stomach allowing you to eat too much.  Breads and carbs are often slider foods for us, to some extent.  Anything that is partially liquid, you can pretty much eat an unlimitied amount - milkshakes, ice cream, frozen yogurt, etc.

So if you're going to eat veggies (and you should), it's often better to eat the ones that Frisco listed, to keep your calories down (at least until you reach maintainence).

Wow.  Thank you so much for this information.  I'd not heard this before.   I'm getting sleeved on the 25th so it will be a while before I eat solid foods, but I'll remember this!

The key is to eat said harder to digest veggies with or on top of dense protein.

As a stand alone veggie only snack....Seems to be much better than say a cheese stick....for feeling like you ate something.

I understand the reasoning and I've done some research about the subject (trust but verify).

I think that Frisco has the right of it.

Protein stays in the stomach longer because it alone does not allow the pyloric valve to open easily/fully/quickly
but
add fluids (i.e. soups/drinks) and the valve opens much more easily/quicker.

So, I think that if you eat your protein at meals (first of course) then still want to/feel like eating a little more, then the choice should be the stalk veggies BECAUSE any other choice like potatoes, soup etc would open the pyloric valve, thus not letting you feel as full for long.

If you are looking for a snack...then these veggies (in theory, I haven't tested it yet) will stay in your stomach longer and make you feel more satisfied.

I am trying to plan out a 2 week "get back to basics" eating plan so I'm definitely getting the facts of each faze.

thanks for the feedback.
