First - OMG, you have done so well. I'm so proud for you! You are an inspiration!

Second - thank you for posting this bit of honesty. I'm struggling with this right now myself. I am kind of in a place of anger right now (I blogged about it here). I'm getting better, feeling better, but sometimes I get kind of an angry and jealous feeling when I see people at my weight just starting. LOL. Totally irrational and I know it, but thank you for admitting it. It made me feel better that maybe I'm not a totally selfish witch.

Thanks. There are many days I really just want to snap my fingers and be skinny. The reality is I may never be "skinny" and I have to work at it. I know that. I still want a magic genie though! Thanks... you are truly inspirational. Truly.

So when you say had you know sooner do you mean time wise or weight wise?  Everyone has THEIR reasons as you stated.

I think many who decide to have WLS at a lower BMI are aware that just like you said you did.... they are on a yoyo path and bound to keep gaining weight. Yoyo dieting is very bad for ones body and most likely in 10 years they will need WLS. I think its pretty proactive to handle before one becomes SMO and has issues that make the surgery even riskier... IMHO

WLS not for weight loss?  Sounds crazy...but the fact is, this proceedure has so much further reaching benefits than weight loss.  I do have less than 100 lbs to loose to reach goal weight.  That being said, my primary reason for surgery is my comorbid conditions, whi*****lude insulin resisntace, elevated cholesterol, PCOS, PMDD - all in direct relation to my obesity.  I plan to get off all of the routine meds I take after surgery.  I will, to a point, include my PCP in these decisions.  lol However, no matter EBW goals, we all stand on common ground - we want to improve our health.

This is such an odd question. i don't think people make this decision based on vanity. For me I was right on the boarder 95 lbs. I know I can drop 40 no problem, and gain it back over a year or two. For me I did it to cure my diabetes. I have had it for 15 years and my doc told me I would not be able to continue working full time. Diabetes kills you regardless if you are 100lb or 200lb overweight.

I am almost offended...like you don;t think we should be able to get it? That like asking someone why they waited until they were 200 lbs..or how did they let themself get so fat.

Really??
