at the thought of only having 100 pounds to lose before my personal goal of 140 pounds. I began this journey in January 2011. 6 months of supervised weight loss, etc. I weighed 312 pounds. Had pain in my knees and feet. Not great for a registered nurse. High blood pressure, an A1C that was high normal.
I lost 39 pounds pre-op, then had  3 weeks of food funerals. Began my surgical journey at 282 pounds. I have lost 42 pounds since December 1, 2011.
I have joined a gym and I will only miss one day a week (teaching nursing students at my hospital). I love the variety of activities I can do now. I no longer take daily pain medication for my aching knees and feet, they don't hurt. My blood pressure is much lower and my A1C is now less than 5. I have tons of energy. My house has never been cleaner and I am more productive at work.
If anyone is having a hard time with recovery or deciding if WLS is the right thing for them, take it from this former couch potato that VSG is the tool you need for dedicated weight loss and better health!! You still have to do the work, but the benefits will be outstanding!

 Awesome progress.

I cleaned the heck out of my house yesterday.  Although I am sore today from moving furniture, I feel so good because I know that it would have taken me at least a week to do what I did yesterday.
