I agree with Kimberlyann. When my husband had his sleeve done, I never saw him as being as big as he was in the first place, so it took me a while to see the loss he was having. Then, and this is no exaggeration, he came home from work one evening, and I did a double take; who was this strange man who had just walked into my house?

Your friend will have that moment. In the mean time, you really do look awesome! Keep up the great work

sounds like a response from a non-WLS person who is kinda wrapped up in themselves and not too observant.

Im sure it hurt, but we sure as f*ck see a difference, and YOUR BODY IS CARRYING AROUND 100 LESS POUNDS...umm thats AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesnt matter how anyone else sees it. It matters that YOU are proud of yourself. And you should be.

I have talked about this a fews times on these message boards but years ago I lost 141 lbs and I was shocked how many women were ignoring that I went from a size who knows what to a 4. Some were outright nasty. One man told me I look better now, because before I looked like a "gorilla". My BFF back then also refused to comment on my weight loss or acknowledge it. And no, I didn't need a brass band playing every morning when I woke up because I lost weight but how can you ignore your friend losing (in your case) 100 lbs???
Sad. Unfair. And go where the love and light are....you have done an AMAZING job and you look GREAT!!

dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb!!!!!  you look great, and for godssake, 100 lbs?!?!?!?  of course you look different and WE can all tell even if she was, whatever her problem was.  don't take it on!

i have a great, supportive friend here who gave me one shocking piece of advice when i wanted to show off that i was losing weight:  she yelled at me (in  loving way) about needing to get smaller clothes to show off my new body.  never occured to me.  it makes a big difference though.  this is not meant to be judgmental AT ALL, it's just that it had never occured to me, so i thought i'd pass it along.  treat yourself, doll!!!!

congrats on 100 freakin' pounds.  you are totally rocking that sleeve!!!!!

Thank you everyone for your responses and perspective, I love all of you  This is the best board ever.  I actually am wearing smaller clothes but I guess I don't like form fitting clothes at the moment as my body is not to the point where I feel comfortable. I understand that sometimes someone won't notice like my hubby never saw me as "huge" but he does see the weight loss. I guess I expected more of a shock response in a good way not a bad way since we don't live near each other so she hasn't seen me since about 1 month out of surgery.  She might be jealous also since she has weight to lose and would like to have surgery but her insurance does not cover and she cannot afford.  Plus she is pregnant, all those pregnancy hormones raging and all lol.  I won't hold it against her or ruin our friendship over it since we have been friends since middle school but I will be more cautious on my sharing.  I guess I'll leave that to the VSG board since ya'll understand the emotions that happen with this journey.  Kerry
