Have to get a new phone.  Did Blackberries for years then switched to IPhone now I'm looking around and there's all these new smartphones and Androids etc.  I'm useless with technology but wouldn't mind trying something new. I don't do a lot, talk text, Internet, good battery life and if anyone has anything i just have to get acquainted with I'm open.  I noticed Jenn posted apps have no idea how to use these but am open.  Ideas please peeps but not too complicated because i am truly a Luddite, not being humble but open to learning.

I've had an iPhone (had the original 3g and now have the 4s) for the last 3 years. I truly love it.

My husband does not like the touch screen, but he wanted a smart phone of sorts. He did tons of research and chose a the LG Quantum, it's got a touch screen and a flip out qwerty keyboard. It's a Windows operating system, and has an app store that is unique to Microsoft. He really loves it.

I'm an iPhone girl through and through.

I liked my IPhone a lot but i only got about 2.5 hours of solid talk time. (My family lives in Europe so when we get on there we stay on there) so i was always being caught out with it dying.  I'm gonna check out the LG Quantum.  I'm kinda lazy so when I started doing research i was daunted, especially since i didn't know what to be excited about.  thanks, it's a big help.

I have a Droid X, and I'm pretty happy with it.  Large screen, and the battery lasts all day, even if I'm on the phone more than usual.  I charge every night, but with smartphones, that's kinda the norm if you actually *use* them.  I also have a Blackberry 3G (I think?) as a work phone, and I like it as well!

I've not had one, but I've played with Windows Phone 7 devices at work, and some of those are pretty slick and easy to use.  I think the best thing to do is to go to some stores and play around with the displays to see what you like and don't like.  Then do more research based on that!

Hope you find something you're happy with!

I LOVE my iPhone! I had a 3 and the Internet got really clunky and slow so I upgraded to a 4. I don't need Siri so I didn't want the 4S at an extra $100. I have MyFitnessPal on it and am coming at ya'll from it right now!

iPhone fan to my heart.  If I were to go to anything other than my iBaby, I would get the Droid Razr.  That's a nice phone.

Ehh I have had the original motorola Droid, and I now have the HTC Incredible for personal and an Evo for my work phone. I prefer the size of the evo but damn as soon as I can I am switching to an iPhone. Love their OS soooo much better than Android.

It sounds like you have an iPhone?  Are you not happy with it?  I'm very biased and don't think you can beat iPhone.  But since this is a VSG forum, I wanted to weigh in on the topic (lol).

One great think about iPhone that you won't find in most other phones is that you always get OS updates for free, without delay.  This means great new features. It's like getting a new phone every year, or whenever a new iOS is released.  The exception is some feature may be dependant on new hardware, like a video camera or in the case of Siri Assistant, a hardware noise reduction chip.  You still get the other feature, but obviously those that need the hardware support aren't there.  Likewise,  The very early model iPhones (2007 - 2008) don't have fast enough processors to support the latest iOS, so they only get the latest OS that will still run well on that phone.

Now, Android.. good luck on getting updates.  In theory android phones get updates, but reality is they rarely do.  With the speed of evolution on smartphones, it's really sad to get stuck in a two year commitment with a phone that is not going to stay current with new functionality being relased on newer Android phones.  Stop in a Verizon or AT&T store and ask which Android phones are not running the latest Android 4.0 OS.  This is not listed on specs, but is important.  You will find review after review stating Android 4 is the first Android release that comes close to the experience of Apple's iOS.

Next.  Battery life.  Before you go with an LTE phone, read some review. Specifically, search on Battery life. You will find if you want LTE, you are going to have to get an abnormally large phone.  This isn't because people want a gigantic phone, like marketing would like you to believe. But the larger form factor is to accomidate the larger LTE chip and a larger battery.  If the battery is big enough you will be less aware of the drain on the battery due to LTE.

Now for Windows Phone....  It's fairly new, but I would guess that updates to the OS would be regular.  And I would expect the update of the OS to be close to being as easy as that of iPhone.  The interface on Windows Phone is very different.  And if you are truely a luddite, you may actually enjoy Window phone, the best.  You may find it simple, fewer unneeded features, and therefore easier to get done what you want.   It's worth checking out.

Thanks so much for your informational response.  God knows i can't believe so much thought goes into a phone but it's so important.  I feel like a **** just saying that, it's a phone for God's sake but i have to admit it also is a third arm.  Anyhow thank you and yes i absolutely do not want an Iphone but am pretty amazed still that so many folks have undying loyalty to them.  Go figure.

Speaking of "third arm"  that would be quite "handy" (pun intended!)  While surfing *****n your phone.....let's  cut the BS!  You want longer battery life to watch more "Mobile porn".....cuz it kills your battery quickly!  Fess up....we're all adults here!  ha ha ha!
