Seems allot of new folks !!! Yah!!!

Cool.... as the VSG grows in popularity...this forum grows also..... So cool....!!!

Take this for what it's worth........

- Please get medical advice from a doctor...... not an open online forum......

- "Some"  newer.....and even pre-op's are giving out info that is marginal at best and not very accurate.....

Yes..... everyone has a right to post.....that's what public online forums are for......

Just don't believe everything you read.

That's all.....

Agreed.  Choose a good surgeon with a good track record, and then follow their plan.

I'd recommend assembling a "team" to support and guide you through the process.  My surgeon's office provides 2 dietitians and 2 exercise physiologists.  I also have a counselor who specializes in disordered eating.

The people on OH are awesome for providing support and encouragement, but strangers on the internet should never be a primary source of medical information.

I believe this is very wise advice.  I greatly respect all those that take the time to encourage and help others.  It is clear they do it with good intentions.  The thing is we are all so different and are experiences, health, surgeons are different too.  We must understand that one person's experience is the same for everyone.

I learnt this lesson this week.  I had surgery last wekk.  From my readings most people did not experience too much pain after surgery.  Many compared it to the feeling of too many sit ups. I was expecting the same.  It did not happen this way. I was in intense pain for the first 4 days.  For specific reasons (bad acid reflux, endometriosis and a stapled muscle in my case) I experienced things differently.  If someone were to ask me if the surgery was painful I would say HELL ya, but that would not be the full picture either. It took a good talk with the nurse to finally get it through my thick head that we are all different and experience things differently.

Exactly, everyone is different and information from surgeons and literature varies greatly. That's why I think the statement that some new people have given inaccurate information isn't fair. Also, it feels kind of unwelcoming to read the OP.
