Full Feeling?
VSG on 01/25/12
I measure all of my portions in an attempt to not get too full. However, I have experienced a very runny nose and will feel a pressure behind my breastbone and in my back between my shoulder blades and it occurs if I take one bite too many. I have also had fits of sneezing before, but only a couple of times.
I'm still trying to find my way with regards to this but so far, one thing I noticed is this...
Pre WLS, I could eat way past full.
Now, when I'm full, I cant even squeeze in one more bite because when im full 'im full!'.
ive experimented a couple times, one time I had too much soup, and I vomited the extra up. I suppose its trial and error etc.
I can drink much more than I eat, do you guys find that too?
For example, I have a big oup mug that holds 1/2 liter of soup (16 oz) and I can eat it all, but when it comes to actual solid food, I can only eat about 1/2 cup max.

Its hard to describe. I dont get the actual signs like most people, until its too late- which im in month 6 almost and still overeat too often and have to deal with pain and vomiting- but generally i portion, and then usually about 1.5 oz in i just feel- not in my tummy- not hungry anymore, and sometime its a short pause and i might put my fork down for a sec, after that i dont pick it up again, if in 5 minutes im actually still feeling hungry i might take another bite, but generally im not really feeling hungry anymore.
hope this helps! also usually with in a minute or two of setting my fork down i hiccup once!

I'm 6 months out & I try to under eat my sleeve. There have been a several times where I have eaten until I have a full feeling. I usually just feel like my sleeve has a tight feeling. I've been to nervous to overeat to the point of vomiting or getting the slimies or foamies. I dont know if I've just been lucky so far but I haven't gotten sick yet.
I measure out 2 ounces of protein always but even with that sometimes I get full before consuming the full amount. If I overeat I get the foamies and burping and feel like I wish I could vomit. The food feels like it is in my esophagus.
It is much easier to focus on how full you are getting if you put the fork down and wait before the next bite. Also if I am busy talking and not concentrating on me I can very easily eat too much and feel terrible after. I know eating is a social thing but sometimes early out it helps to just focus on how you are feeling and keep the chat for after dinner and before you have your after dinner drink. Of course this is not easy to do but I fill up very quickly and keep asking myself - has the full feeling started - if so I stop eating immediately and not finish what is on my plate.
For example I had company yesterday and made a full dinner, roast chicken, potatoes, gravy and green beans. I measured my chicken, put 1 little tablespoon of potato (my first since surgery) and I weighed my green beans and 5 beans equaled 1 ounce. I ate most of my chicken first, ate 1 small bit of potato and could only eat 2 beans. It seemed ridiculous to me to leave 3 green beans and a small bit of chicken and potato left on the plate but I knew I was full. This is a real change to the clean the plate upbringing I had.

I try to weight and measure everything but I have noticed recently that the amt I can eat really varies sometimes.
I have felt FULL several times but not to the point I felt sick in any way. The feeling I got was just feelng "FULL" for lack of a better word. The same feeling I got pre surgery if I ate too much.
I also notice that I get hiccups or burp some if I eat too much.
Measuring my food before I eat helps keep this to a minimum. I am six weeks out and I am eating between 1/4 - 1/2 cup of mushy type food (cottage cheese, pureed soups, etc) and generally between 1-2oz of more dense food (tuna salad, hard cheese, meatballs w/ sauce, chili).
I'm approved to try solid dense protein at this point but I am probably going to wait another week or so before I give it a shot. I'm doing ok with tuna and ground beef (so lnng as its in a sauce) at this point. I think I will try some very moist shredded chicken for my first "regular" meat.
