Last week I had my pysch evaluation and got cleared, and she told me that I should be getting a call in 10 days to finally meet the surgeon and get my surgery date, she also told me I should be having surgery by mid April. Yay!!! I am sooo excited because this has been a long process (Since July 2011) and I am almost there! I am also happy because I sent my boss an email giving her a heads up about my medical leave next month, so she can make arrangements to find someone to cover me, and she responded right away, Okay, Thank you for the heads up! Wow, Not what I expected, I have always feared asking her for sick time or vacation time cause she always gave me a hard time about it, So I feel soo relieved and ready to go. Can anyone give me an idea of the items that are a must have for when I come home post op? I want to start getting ready. Thank you. See you all soon on the loser's bench. Gabbz

Hey Gabbz! I know you dont have the exact date yet but congratulations on getting this far! I had to wait about a year before I got my date so it gave me plenty of time to prepare and to NOT be scared. I was so excited for my big day and it was one of the best decisions I made in my life.
Keep us posted!!!!

Congratulations!
The doctor gave me a list of things to have on hand - GasX, Milk of Magnesia, cold medicine, prescription meds, etc.
My NUT recommended the blender and protein drinks.
Stuff to make you feel comfortable is always good - nice robe, house shoes.
You'll need good walking shoes because you need to be walking as much as possible as soon as possible.
You'll get cold easier after the surgery. April is usually warmer where I am but if it isn't where you are, you might want a warm throw or shawl to keep handy for when you get chilled.
Measuring cups and a food scale comes in handy.
Having a drink cup/mug that has the ounces measured on the side is good - you'll probably get one at the hospital.
A pillow to hold up against your stomach when you have to cough is helpful - you'll probably get a little one from the hospital too.
