ii went with Dr.Kelly,
just got back 3 days ago,
it was 5,300
i was in the hospital the first night pre-op
then 2 more nights post op,
(the hospital is a block away from the beach &really nice)
i have nothing to complain about but the nurses don't speak well English!
after wards i was 2 nights in the hotel,(very nice hotel)
they drove me back to San Diego,
gave me antibiotics/stomach or acid reflux meds/ &pain meds...
he came to see me twice b4 surgery,
more than 3 times a day while in the hospital,
and every day in the hotel...
the only thing i could say that was a no no,
is that he doesn't provide a NUT for the aftercare,
he gave me a specified diet plan,
and i know i could call or e-mail with any questions anytime,
but still i would've liked for me to be able to talk to a nutritionist...

but i guess you get what u pay for and overall I'm glad i went with him, great surgeon!! ;)
here's his direct number, (619-955-6771)
just ask his assistant to talk directly to him &ii don't think there would be any problem..

i don't work for him or anything like that I'm just a girl
glad of the opportunity to get this surgery under my budget,
and that i made it back better than ever!!

and if anybody could have the same luck i did,
why not give em a little guidance..

good lck &best wishes to him

That's more of a follow up than I've gotten from my doctor and I paid $12,000 cold hard cash.  I haven't seen or heard from my doctor since then.  I had my surgery on March1st and my first appoinment to see the doctor is Friday.

I agree about the post op menu plan but I did enough research that I felt comfortable with all the information I have learned. I rather listen to people that had the surgery and great results then a booklet. We were given four different post op menu plans, we were given the wrong pre op diet info for the VSG. The coordinators tried but gave us the instruxtions they had for a total different surgery and different surgeon. At least now you go directly to him and get the proper instructions. It was never a big deal to me lol I have saved thousand of pages of information, diets, vitamin info and everything I could. I don't come on here as much as I did, living a life and will limit my time here because I was so addicted to this site lol

I know, but it is not like we will be shipping him off to the first name on the list. I just wanted to compile a list that people knew of, and then we can research from there. I do not want to put his life on the line- but he makes $9/hr and his insurance does not pay for any WLS. They had been considering doing one of these US based lap band surgeons who offer financing, but I hate to see him with the band.

If my insurance hadn't covered my surgery I would definitely be looking for a "cheap decent" surgeon but realistically for a few more thousand dollars or to finance I would pay more money to not have the complications or to not die. Since it's Mexico they probably don't report those things...

Being 5'6 and 380 before surgery and 28 years old I likely understand the need for your nephew's surgery but please weigh all of your options even if you need to put it off for a little while. I NEVER ask anyone to have RNY but does his insurance cover that?

I paid $5,000 with Dr. Garcia.  I believe he is in with Dr. Kelly, the same dr. mentioned above.  Everything she mentioned hit the nail on the head in my experience as well.  He is an acredited surgeon who works out of a full service hospital.  I researced for about a year before deciding on him.  No regrets here.

My husband and me in less than 2 weeks went/are going to Dr Aceves in Mexico.  He is AWESOME.  My husband researches everything  and researced for 2 years before his surgery and only heard good things about him.  Research you options and talk to all the Drs.  Dont let anyone scare you away from Mexican surgeries.  Worked AMAZING for the hubby and hopefully the same for me!!!!  Good luck.

Thank you for your input. I'm most likely going to MX for my WLS  with Dr Ponce and the other posts and comments made before yours really frightened me.
