Any information on the use of abd binders post op?? recommended or not.. I would think it would help with support and movement of gas?

I saw them on amazon.com but didn't order one yet.  I hope someone answers because I'm dying to know if they are worth it.  ($40)

Hi,

When i flew home from San Diego after surgery in Tiquana, because of all the walking around that you do in an airport, it would have been nice to have had a firm but not extremely tight girdle or body shaper on for support.  Same thing when i arrived at Dulles International, so much walking around and i was holding my stomach for support with my hand.

When i got home and i did any walking, the body shaper was perfect support.

So it didn't bother your incision site?  I just worry about anything going in that area.

the body shaper worked for me but of course i didn't put it on until a week after vsg when i got home, and it was not super tight, just snug.

There are several little incisions about a half an inch long, and incisions are closed, really sealed.  Where they had drain tube, there was just a little bandaid on it.

I used one for a while post-op, and recommend it highly!

It's great for the ride home after surgery, and for getting out of bed without causing pain.

If it feels good, do it!  And if it smells good, eat it!

My hospital gives one to all WLS people. It was highly recommend by the nut. and head nurse. It really helps when sitting up or walking around. It just holds everything together so it doesn't "move" or "bounce" around.

My hospital provided me one after surgery. Helped me to feel "together" so to speak. It didnt bother my incisions, just took it off while at home.
