Reactive Hypoglycemia and Surgery?

I havent had my surgery yet but am preparing myself by doing tons of research. I want to have as much info with me when I meet the surgeon and I am a little concerned about the food stages afterwards. I know its protein first, which totally works for me as far as shakes goes, but when you move along the process, I see some people eating mashed potatoes or something else carby at their mushy stage. . I cant eat carbs on their own and really have to limit them so any suggestions on what I would have at these different stages would be really appreciated. Maybe I should stock up on protein pudding? The horrible side effects of eating straight carbs (oatmeal, potatoes, cereal) would make my blood sugar drop and then trying to get some protein in when you already had something would be impossible. If anyone here has dealt with this, please share with me. I would appreciate all help.

I am going on mushies next week... I have nothing but protein to puree. There are better choices than oatmeal and potatos and I encourage you to make those smart choices and make your sleeve work for you.
Puree tuna with a little lemon or light mayo, puree your favorite soups, smashed refried beans with melted cheese on top, puree cooked meats with a little broth, always, always eat protein first and there will be no room for starches and carbs.

Every doctor has a different plan.  My surgeons has us eliminating startchy foods until 75% of excess weight loss.  I used to SURVIVE on mashed potatoes and baked potatoes.  I havent had one since October.

In the mushie stage, and even today, I ate alot of cottage cheese, flavored fat free greek yogurt, etc.  The Mantra for me is  "No Empty Calories".

The secret in the mushie stage is a good blender.  Anything you can blend to a smooth consistency should work.  For example My mushie stage was during thanksgiving.  2.5 ozs of turkey breast with half an ounce of greek yogurt in a blender - bam meal.

There are several cook books out there.  I used "Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummies".

I ate a lot of eggs, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, canned tuna, cheese and was cleared for solid meat at 4 weeks.  It wasn't bad at all.  Oh and I kept drinking shakes as well.  There was no way to meet protein requirements without them at that point.
