No Bowel Movement

  Hi All
sorry for the sh*tty subject

I am 5 days since my op and feeling great. I am handling liquids very well and am getting around better than I expected.

HOWEVER

I have had no bowel movement sicne the morning before the Operation
Is this common? What should I do?

Please help

They tell me I am full of sh*t but this is ridiculous

Very common.

Two things....

The anesthesia puts your bowels to sleep and it can take awhile to get things moving.

Also.....you aren't taking in any solid food....or probably aren't at this point.  I didn't have a BM until about 9 days post op and have been fairly regular since......a bit of constipation but nothing horrible.

I usually only go every other day now.  Get used to it.....less in...less out.

 My doctor said to use Milk of Magnesia.  But, I'd recommend just use half a dose.

Yeah it's normal I finally went on my fifth day. Without taking anything though. Afterwards until I was able to eat veggies I took a peri colace or two if I went three days without going. milk of mag , miralax, prune juice. All will help. I'm also lactose intolerant so I drink milk to move things along and I go everyday now.

 howie,1st off i love the adapted version i get it to my cell phone...ok im day 7,it was day 5 for my 1st time, then it was like baby food..day 6 much better but very little..so my pal the poo will come
