Is there anyone that didnt lose any hair or that lost only a little amount of hair?

If so,what was the amount of protein you did after surgery and how quickly did you reach your daily target for proteins?

Thanks

I've never lost a strand!
Was ready for it and could have dealt with it as I have VERY thick hair.

I was at 40 g of protein by mid week 2 and at 80 by mid week 3. I used 2 shakes a day at 40 g per shake. Was on liquids for those 2 weeks. So the rest of my intake was water/crystal lite/tea etc.   I had a very easy surgery and recovery.

Good luck to you.

PS--almost 2 years later and I still do 1 of those shakes per day for breakfast/am snack.

I am almost 5 months out and no hair loss yet.
I get 80-100 grm. protien. All from food ususally . Rarely do I use shakes. In the beginning I would not go below 60 grm. a day.

My NUT said that if you get enough protein, it will help you keep your hair.

I've heard men don't loose hair like women do for whatever reason, but I have not lost any that I've noticed 2 months post op.

I get at least 70 grams of protein a day.

No hair loss yet for me at 4 months out. I get between 80 and 100 grams of protein per day. Pre op I was making sure to get 100 grams of protein a day, too. Then post op I got 60 grams per day the first three weeks and pushed it up to 80 grams a day as soon as possible. Since about 6 weeks out I strive for 100 grams per day. Some days I make it, some days I don't.

I haven't yet at 4 1/2 months out. I too am very strict about the protein, 70-90 grams per day. I still have one shake per day usually. I know it could still happen, but I'm crossing my fingers!

I didn't, and I'm not sure why.  I was more obsessed with getting my vegetables in post op than I was protein, although I'm sure I met protein quota most days.  I would throw greens into my morning smoothies (spinach, kale, etc.) and also blend them into chicken broth.

Don't know if that made any difference -- probably just the luck of the draw.  But I didn't notice any loss at all.   I even went out and bought a wig in anticipation of it and have never used it.

I'm two months out and no change in hair loss so far but it might be early for me. I heard some people don't lose it till month 3 or 4 maybe? Either way, I'm feeling bad after reading these posts. I get 60 grams of protein per day and that is a struggle. It looks like I should be getting more like the rest of you are. I had one day where I got over 90 grams and every other day is hovering between 57-65. Hmm

Mine didn't start shedding till about mo 5, then slowed down at about mo 8 or so.. I wa****ting 70+ protein from day 9 onwards. Protein has little to do with the early hair loss- it's more to do with stress of a huge caloric deficit, added to surgery/healing. Now, if you start shedding at a year post-op, time for labs as that can be an indicator of low protein. Good news: doesn't happen to all, better news: it comes back.
