Birth Control and weight loss... I know what they SAY...

Full disclosure... I am a health teacher, so I KNOW what they say about BC, I know what my ob/gyn has said... but I wanna know how YOU ladies have experienced it...

To be fair, I have PCOS pretty bad and my hormones have never been normal...  I was put on BC pills about 6 months ago... I finally could... my co-morbidities were gone, and my period didn't want to stop!  Even on the pill my periods were odd... heck, the last THREE months I had a peroid right smack in the middle of the pack, and nothing on the inactive days... my ob/gyn said they were just glad I was bleeding each month... they had me do back to back packs to see if that would help straighten things out... nope just NO peoriod, even after 9 days of no pills... (I decided to take a break and see what my body would do... my BF thinks I"m pregnant.... who knows... usually they will use BC to bring on a period...)

I have had a MUCH harder time controling my cravings and eating ever since I went on the pill... but I know that this process is FAR too complicated to pin on my BC...

I've been off for 9 days now and I have lost 6lbs already and was able to get through the carb detox SO much easier...  I think I'm gonna stay off for now... we'll be careful, and on the off chance I"m actually ovulating I feel okay getting pregnant at 9 months out... I know I can easily get in what I need to if I try... and we do want a baby eventually... (unless of course there is already one on board... I'm gonna wait to test until the weekend... I'm pretty sure this is just PCOS being weird).

Anyone else had weird BC experiences?  I think that my system might just be really sensitive...?

I'm feeling like I need to get back on bcps.  I'll see my doc next week.  Periods are so much worse since the sleeve and appetite out of control!  No real info from me, sorry.

Mine have been insane.  I wasn't on BC but Aygestin (norethindrone) to purposly stop my period pre-op, but I stopped them for surgery b/c of the risk of clots.  No problem, still no period.

So a few days post op I start spotting.  No big deal, it stops.  6 weeks I start bleeding something insane.  The doc puts me on the hormones but 10mg a day for 5 days, then 5mg after.  I don't stop bleeding.  After 10 days of bleeding he tells me to stop for 5 days then restart at 2.5mg.  This worked fine, for 10 days, and now I'm back to bleeding to death.  He upped me to 5mg again and told me to come see him if it doesn't get better.  I am giving it til Friday and if it's not better I guess I'll schedule an appointment for next week.

It is so frustrating.  I wish I just knew what to do.

My periods have always been nuts, I have endometriosis. I was on the shot for years before VSG. My surgeon didn't want me on any extra hormones before surgery so I'd been off the shot for almost a year when I had my VSG. After I went back on the shot and my body FLIPPED OUT. No period for two months then, bam... Period for 46 days straight. Had to be put on the pill to stop it and then when I was supposed to have the next period it lasted 12 days. I got an IUD in January and haven't had any real issues since. Not any real periods either! Which is a win in my book.

Hope it gets sorted out soon!

I'm not sure about your issue, but I was sleeved last week and started w/ "a period-like thing" the day after...and I haven't had my period for a year and a half (ever since I got a Mirena IUD). I'm hoping it's just a temporary thing!
