Anyone get sleeved or going to get sleeved through Kaiser in Fontucky?

Neither gurl, but do you mean Fontana or is it really Fontucky? Is Fontucky just a funny way to say Fontana??? LOL

Well then, that is cute! It's better than calling Whittier which is where I live, "Sh**tier"!!! Hahaha!!!

Hi,  I am having surgery through the Kaiser, Fontana, CA Options Program.  I have
my surgeon appointment on May 8th.  A surgery date will be given to me at the
surgeon's appointment.  I started the process the end of September 2011 and
finsihed the required classes on January 11th.  Then it took another 8 weeks to
get my Nutritionist and Psych appointments.  I called after another 3 weeks to ask
for the surgeon's appointment.  The earliest they could get me in was May 8th.
It is lengthy and slow going.  They said that surgery would be done at St Bernardines
in San Bernardino because they are not performing the surgeries at the
facility in Fontana.  Also, the surgeon's you can pick from is Dr Fredorka or Dr Chin.
My friend has her surgery in January with Dr Chin and she really liked him.  She
told me Dr Fredorka is also very good and friendly for the most part but has a
rather strong bedside manner.  I chose Dr Chin.  Both surgeons are out of
Redlands.  I only know of one person who hounded them about the slow
process and they managed to get her into Kaiser in Los Angeles right away.
I will answer anything you would like to know.

Hi Barbara! Wow! Looks like everything is moving pretty fast for you, Thats great! I started this process (my Options Classes) July 2011 and finished my classes October 2011. I had a minor set back, I was deficient in Vitamin D, So I had to take a 12 week treatment, then I also had to get my asthma under control with a steroid inhaler, I called to let them know my asthma was under control last week, I didnt realize that my file had not been turned into the surgeon, So it was sitting there for about a month, I finally called them last week, to check the status and I emailed the bariatrician that my asthma was now under control, SOOOO, FINALLY, Everything was submitted to the surgeon yesterday 4/5/12. I called scheduling today, and they said I would probably get a call next week with a date for my preop appointment. So, consider yourself blessed  This has been such a long process for me, but I am almost there, and soo are you. I do have a few questions. Is there a difference in wait time for surgery depending on which one of the two surgeons I choose? How did your appointment with the surgeon go? Is there anything I should know or take the day of my preop appointment? I am glad surgery is out of St. Bernadines Hospital, I only live 5 minutes away, Yippie!!! Barbara's comments are correct, I got sleeved 1/25/12 by Dr. Fedorka, really liked him.  Finished the classes 9/2011.  St Bernardines is where the surgery is perfomed.  Didnt care much for the staff there.  Was tired for sometime, but am feeling much better now. Lost so far 45#.  Am going through a stall right now, need to kick up excercise.  If you have any questions feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Hello, Moondancer. Wow, 45lbs so far thats great! Thank you soo much! How long did you take off work? Did the doctor make you do a preop diet?

I had my surgery Last October through Kaiser Fontana. However, I was one of the last referred down to Pacific Bariatric in San Diego. I have had follow up care through the Fontana Palm Court facilities and they are very good. My husband is currently waiting for his surgeons appointment (he has completed all his other appointments and just waiting for the phone call for the surgeons appointment). But reading the post above is a little discouraging! We are booked and paid for a cruise in August and I'm beginning to think his surgery is going to have to be scheduled after we return from the cruise!
