Linda,
My girlfriend, who had surgery in January, told me that her husband slept
in a chair next to her bed while she was there. I don't know if Kaiser sets
their own rules, but her husband was there.  He helped her walk and get
to the bathroom.  I will ask my daughter about it and my friend,

My sister just had her sleeve procedure by Dr. Fedorka yesterday and my pre-op appt. with Dr. Chin is next week.  I'm excited to see how this all goes!  I was glad to come upon this thread when trying to find out about Dr. Chin.  It seems I will be happy to have been scheduled with him :)  I am hoping for the best for all of you!

How was the pre-op appt with Dr. Chin? I have mine on 2-1-13 and do not know what to expect. After your pre-op, how long did it take until your surgery?

Thanks

Sue

Hi Sue,

The pre-op, surgery and follow up appts all went really well!  Dr. Chin is very nice and I was very happy with his demeanor and explanations when I asked questions.  My surgery was 5 weeks after the pre-op appt.  That was the first available date he had.  At my sister's pre-op appt. Dr. Fedorka offered her a surgery date the very next week but she was going to be out of town so she had her surgery 4 weeks after her pre-op.   I'm 13 weeks post-op now and so far have not regretted it at all :)  I hope you have the same experience.  I'm happy to answer any more questions you might have!  Renee

You're welcome :)   We mainly talked about my chart, weighed me, discussed which surgery I wanted and which one he thought would benefit me.  I'd lost 10 lbs. on my own and he said to keep losing weight.  I lost another 3 by surgery day and was worried it wouldn't be enough but nothing was ever said.  I wanted the sleeve which he thought I should go with as well.  Then he went over the pros/cons of the surgery and what to expect and/or do before and after the surgery.  If your surgery is within 4 weeks of you meeting with him at the pre-op appt. he usually does your pre-op stuff during the appt.....which if I remember correctly is mainly just having your blood drawn.  If it's too far out they'll schedule an appt. for you before you leave.  He checked my stomach and showed me where the incisions would be and then answered the questions my husband and I had.   Oh yeah and he said the day before surgery is an all liquid day.  It was pretty painless and lasted maybe 15-20 minutes.    I think I got it all but again if you have any more questions just let me know :)  Renee
