20 days of antibiotics and my stomach feels like it wants to crawl out my mouth...
I am on my last freaking day of a 20 day long course of antibiotics (with the possibility of another 30 days of an even stronger drug on the horizon) and it SUCKS. About 20 mins after I take pills I get a feeling like my stomach is trying to crawl up and out of my body, and then a dull ache for hours after.
If my third culture comes back positive and I have to go on the stronger med, does anyone have any advice on how to make it easier on my stomach? I take it with food like I am supposed to, and not near any of my other pills. I already take several probiotics, but nothing is touching this. It's so uncomfortable.

I'm right there with you (lovely sinus infection). I had an allergic reaction to the first med and my stomach hasn't been happy since. This second med seems to be better - a little.
My Sleeve friend does ALL liquid meds and she never had a problem with her stomach hurting after three rounds of antbiotics last Fall for Strep.
Maybe the liquid form would be a little easier on your tummy??? Don't know.
I take mine with food. Can't even imagine taking it on an empty stomach.
My surgeon's nurse said to make sure to take a probiotic at least 2 hours before or after the antibiotic so I take a probiotic at lunch. But, you're already taking one, so I can't think of anything better.
Good luck to you. I hope you are all better this time.

Ugh, my first 10 days was liquid and it did the same thing to me, maybe I am just sensitive to it. Mine is for Strep as well, I had a raging case and the day I stoped the antibiotics my thoat started to hurt again, so went back another culture and still positive, so another 10 days. Tomorrow I have to go back and get swabbed again to see if I am clear or not.
Thanks for the advice on the timing, I am going to try that and see if it helps!

The sad thing is that I feel pretty much fine except for when I take the medicine that is supposed to be making me better! I just pray that my culture tomorrow comes back negative, I have a race next week and I just don't want to be dealing with this anymore!
Damn kids and their antibiotic resistant cooties LOL

Sorry ur going thru this misery....make sure ur eating enuff with it...also try drinking kefir with it....and again abot 30 mins. After or at least yogurt with active cultures......STAY ON THE PROBIOTICS!! During and for at least 21 dsys after ur done. Be sure to take probiotics NO LESS than 2 hours AFTER you take antibiotic....hope you feel better
probiotics are mostly a waste of money - if they don't replace the actual flora that exists in your gut (and virtually none of them do) they're likely to cause MORE gut inflammation which can lead to more problems. On a normal course of antibiotics live-culture yogurt is about the most helpful (NOT the designer yogurt, but the real stuff with L. Bulgaris)
I've always found that my tummy bothers me less from antibiotics if the food I take them with is carby. I know carbs aren't our friends during weightloss, but it might be something to try for the duration. I'm on antibiotics more than I would like due to being therapeutically immunocompromised, but most don't bug me - the worst for me so far is clarithromycin.
Hope the infection goes away soon!
