I am still preop, I made ceviche last week and it had shrimp, crab meat, lemon juice, onion, tomato, cucumber, cilantro (everything was finely chopped of course) I topped it with some valentina hot sauce and chopped avocado and had it with a few saltine crackers. My family LOVES when I make this, it is sooo yummy!!! So my question is this... Is this a good meal option post op when we are given the green light to eat regular food or is it more of a maintenance food? It sounds pretty healthy to me. What do you all think?

Girl, ceviche is pretty low fat. I don't see why you cannot eat that during your losing phase. Enjoy girl!

That's what I was thinking, but I thought I read somewhere about not being to eat certain veggies, so I just want to make sure, other than that, I think its pretty healthy, low cal and good source of protein

Oh gurl, that's true.  I forgot about the tomato and cucumber, especially since both have skin.  Maybe make it with everything for flavor and skip the veggies until your doctor or Nut clears you for veggies.  :)

Mmmmm, your ceviche sounds bomb!

I am 2 months post-op and had ceviche for the first time last week. It was so good, and since shrimp is a heavy protein for me, it only took a few spoons of it to fill me up. We are supposed to avoid citrus but I see this as mostly proteins instead of all citrus. I did ok. Just leave out the saltines :)

What I would reccomend is use a tool like myfitnesspall. or nutritiondata.self.com to analyze your recipe and get the nutrition facts.  As long as the meats fit into your plan, and you can get the protein you need from a serving size you can eat - go for it!

Thanks everyone. I can't wait to get full after only a few bites. I will skip the saltines post op of course, lol.
