So I was prescribed prednisone to reduce the swelling in my stomach (revision from a band with tons of scar tissue to VSG) because I couldn't keep anything down.
I can keep food down now and actually eating, on plan, quite a bit. But zero change in the scale and came home heavier than when I left! lol...I know part of that is IV fluids, etc but how much could be the steroids?

Waitin' for the whoosh!

In my experience steroids make you gain a lot of fluid and spike your blood sugar.  I'm sorry you have to deal with that :(

I don't know about the steroids and water weight, but I gained a total of 11 lbs after surgery and it took at least 10 days to come off.

I haven't had a revision, but I would guess that it might take you a little onger to get rid of all the water and see a loss.

I hope it gets better for you.

I had also initially gained too!!  Maybe it's a revision thing?  I did have extra fluids b/c my bp bottomed out with the anesthesia and pain meds so they kept giving my bolus fluids- may me feel better but also like a blowfish!!  I don't weigh everyday, but when i weighed last week i had lost some!  When I weigh again I'll let cha know.  The prednisone definitely doesn't help things, but you gotta take it- try to be patient- once you taper off the pred things should improve!!

I gained about 9 lbs total after surgery. I stripped down & stepped on the scale (big mistake) and got upset. Then I chalked it up to IV/water weight...plus not having a bowel movement. It's started coming off gingerly, and now I'm down two pounds from my previous lighter weight. Just give it a little time.

I also gained 8 lbs from my surgery, But now (day 12) I have lost that 8 lbs plus 15 lbs more. feeling great except for my lower left side of my stomach (lower than the incisions) is very sore still, maybe just gas pressure.

Coming home heavier than you left is a pretty common thing around here. As the bloating goes down, and the swelling, and you're able to keep more fluid down, the scale will begin to move in the right direction. Just keep moving forward.

Girl, you're 5 days out. Take your butt to sleep and then focus on getting your fluids in. It will come off in time. Steroids are a ***** but you won't be on them forever. Your sleeve isn't going anywhere.
