I need some help!!!

So I saw my surgeon for the first time today. He has agreed that the sleeve is best for me. I'm looking forward to this change, but my biggest fear/concern/stressor is getting enough protein and actually enjoying the things to eat.

In an effort to help with the transition, my fiance and I are getting different things to sample ahead of time so I'll be prepared when it's time for my pre-op diet and afterwards. We tried a protein bar that was a peanut butter and chocolate that had 20 grams of protein but was WAY to dense for my liking. I love peanut butter and chocolate, but this had a texter that made me want to vomit (just like hummus does).  The man enjoyed it better than I did. I could only do three bites and not all at back to back. So test product number two was traditional Greek yogurt with banana (love me some nanners). THIS was worse than the protein bar. I had to spit out the very first bite to avoid throwing up.

I can really enjoy cottage cheese so I know when I get to the stage of my recovery when I can have it, I'll be doing really good. AND I'm waiting for my Unjury single packs to be delivered so I can test out a couple of different shakes.

HERE'S WHERE I NEED SOME HELP WITH:

I'm am VERY picky on texture of things. If it has a weird texture, I will vomit. The same with the taste, if it doesn't taste at least 75% delicious, I can't do it.

Are there any powders that I can mix with water that will help? I do have some Crystal Light packets that have a little protein, but I want to find something that I can mix with a bottle of water and drink when I get burnt out on shakes.

Is there a protein pill I can take???? I do GREAT with pills!

Oh the conundrum I am in!

many isolate whey protein powders can be mixed w/water.  I like vanilla mixed w/my coffee.  I also like 4everfit which has fruit flavors which mix w/water also.  I find they do not have as much of the protein after taste.

You can try isopure protein drink. I haven't tried it yet, because it is soo hard to find here, but I have heard many people like it. Some find pills to be a *****allenging at first, because you have to take a large volume of water to wash them down, which we can't do at first. I also never heard of a protein pill. I would be all for it, if you find one.

Do you like many different kinds of meat? Tofu? Shrimp? Fish? Eggs? Cheese? All of these will be a great go to food after surgery. It took me a while to warm up to the greek yogurt too. I use the plain fat free one. It is very bitter, and thick but it is the only one I will eat now. Any fruit flavouring just spikes the carbs up too high. Protein bars are not a great choice, simply because they are very high in the carbs. So use them only on rare occasions.

When you get to puree stage - cottage cheese does not
need to be pureed. Greek yogurt mixed with frozen fruit
in a blender or food processor comes out like sorbet.
It could be your life saver.

Don't rely on anything tasting like it does pre-op.  Your taste buds change and you also develop tastes for new things.  I have been drinking coffee my entire adult life (over 40 years) and have no desire for a cup now.  I have tried it a few times since surgery and it just doesn't have that taste I enjoyed pre-op.

I'm pre-op, but I absolutely LOVE Greek yogurt mixed with any SF water mix-in!  Tastes like a Chewy Sweettart and sooo good!
