List of Labs that should be measured?
My doc says that I should just have a copy of my GYN's annual labs sent to him (which would be a year out for me). Somehow I think I should have more than your standard CDC, liver, thyroid labs done.
Does anyone have a list (or a link to) the comprehensive list of labs and the frequency we should have them checked as a VSG patient? I've found RNY recommendations but nothing for VSG.
Thanks so much!!

This is what I get done, compliments of Brandilynn.. Lipids and liver values (AST/ALT) aren't on here, and I get those as well. This is a lot of vials.. and I needed to go back for re-draws a couple times on the B vites that needed to be protected from light as my Drs in office lab tech did not quite get the fact she needed light protected vials, and the lab was refusing her tin-foil wrapped ones! The lab sent her the vials free.. so you may want to get this straight if your Dr doesn't see a lot special draws come through!
CBC
Comprehensive Met panel
Pro time, PT/INR
Iron
TIBC
ferritin
transferrin
Copper
Zinc
Total protein
albumin
pre-albumin
Folate
Vitamin A (DO NOT EXPOSE TO LIGHT)
vitamin B 1 (Don't expose to light)
vitamin B6 (also do not expose to light)
vitamin B12
vitamin D (Dhydroxy 25, 0,25 – NOT 1,25)
PTH (for use with calcium and vitamin D levels, where is calcium coming from)
As far as frequency, every 3-6 mo for the first year is recommended.. and as long as everything is in range, you can go longer to annual afterwards. Some plans say every 3, but a full draw every three may be overkill.. just depends on what you find the first time and if you have anything you need to monitor- I did, so I went at mo 3 & mo 7.. and will go again for another check on just a few values here in a bit..
Girlie, I might be overlooking it on the LapSF sheet, but the PTH is important because it tells us whether our serum calcium is calcium from our consumption/supplementation, or if its calcium that has been leeched out of our bones.
Only important to know if you care to not sneeze and have your rib cage shatter. :}
I zzzaggerate.
A little. :} But still! muy importante!!

HA! I am search special too. Gotta bookmark or copy and paste to a word document put on a thumb drive. :}
I was being driven insane by a wrinkle in the bedsheets (I sleep on my back now) and could never find it, and realized it was my durn bootayskin! :}
Totally unrelated to labs, but well. You know.
Its me. :}

OMG that happened to me last night!!! I kept feeling a crinkle in the mattress pad. Got up twice to pull it tight, then realized it was my azz folded over on itself.
What are you gonna do?
I swear I make the hubby feel something cause I think it's a tumor AT LEAST WEEKLY. It's always a bone. WHO KNEW I HAD BONES??
Kinda cool but also kinda *slap your forehead* too!
