I am on month one of my 6 month dietitian pre-op thing before insurance will approve my surgery.  So today, I was taking my dog for a walk as a goal that my dietitian wants me to do pre-op.  As I was approaching the disc golf course in the park by my house, some 20 something guys saw me and started throwing their discs at me.  I can only assume because I'm obese.  If this were a one time thing I probably wouldn't jump to the weight, but I get judged all the time because of my weight and people are cruel to me all the time because of it.  I seriously can't wait until I have this surgery so I can be a normal weight and I won't be made fun of.  Has anyone else had this happen to them when they were pre-op?  The cruelty of people to obese people has gotten so bad that when I see young teenagers or young adults I automatically assume they are going to say something heartless and rude and they usually never let me down.  I think I'm going to have to find a new route to walk.

And if the port-a-potty had been closer I would have taken their discs and thrown them in the sewage.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, how awful.  I can relate, when I was a little younger something like this happened to me except the guy was throwing rocks at me and calling me a fat hunk of cheese.

People can be so cruel, hope you are ok.

You know, these people that are cruel to fat people have got to have someone in their lives who they love and who are fat, but how they forget that, I just don't understand. You know their grandma is fat or a favorite Aunt or whatever.   Karma will get them.  You just keep on enjoying walking your dog.

I"m sorry you were treated badly.  People can be stupid and cruel.

I never had an issue, but I was raised to carry myself with confidence even if I'm not feeling it.  It's an important survival skill that has stood me in good stead walking around manufacturing plants for 20+ years.  If you assume you're going to be victimized, you may well be  sending out 'victim vibes'.

I would suggest that you work with a therapist ahead of surgery to work on confidence.  The surgery fixes your stomach, not your head.  It's very easy to self-sabotage if you feel 'unworthy' to start with.

That stinks and makes me super angry. Like everyone else has said, don't change your walking path, be strong and confident.  Yes you will be healthier soon, but you are probably already awesome and dont let idiots upset you!

It is amazing how ignorant and cruel people can be. Just remember you are beautiful inside and out just the way you are.
