You don't have to go to those. I suggest you go to your state forum and ask if there are any support group meetings in your area. If they are anything like Georgia they are probably pretty slow, but people do check in now and then and answer questions.

Some of the vets may chime in with better ideas.

I would seriously recommend some support group.  In addition to the state forum, ask the support coordinator at your surgeons office.  Mine has a list of all in the state.

Of you have a larger hospital near you, I'd call them too. There is a hospital about 5 minutes from my office and their support groups are free to anyone regardless if you have had or even if you don't plan to have surgery.

Where do you live? I know your surgeon is put here in my area in Dallas/ Ft. Worth.  I'm having surgery by Dr. Nicholson who's outpatient office is in Plano.

There's 2 in the DFW area and they post about their meet and greets, get together, and support groups.

I do not attend the one that is provided through our program because it's a lot of enabling, whining about gaining weight and not wanting to make the necessary changes for success(even though those complaining are so far off plan that they just go to ***** and moan).

Nana Deb on here heads up one  and I believe there is another in Keller.

There's lots of support groups in DFW. I'm from there originally and have tons of friends in the area.
