Newly Sleeved, have a question about mornings
Hi All, I was sleeved on 04/16. So far so good. I am on clear liquids like SF jello, broth, etc.
I am supposed to drink 64 oz of water per day. Since I am up 16 hrs per day, I figure 4 oz of water X 16 hrs equals 64 oz.
But I have to say, when I wake up in the morning, my tummy feels very empty, hollow and not great. Is this normal? I take about 21 very tiny sips of water when I wake up and that helps, shortly after I have a cup of broth and SF Jello. Then I feel like I am so full I want to kill myself. Am I doing this right?
Right now I feel like I never want to eat solidsagain. The thought makes me slightly ill. is this normal?
Thanks for your help.

All of it sounds pretty normal to me. Just be careful about taking so many quick sips this early out. You don't want to make yourself sick. My morning routine that early out was to take my antacid immediately and then to go ahead and begin with my broth or jello. Once my stomach felt like it had been served breakfast, then I could proceed with the sipping without feeling like I needed to down it so quickly. But that's just what worked for me.
Sounds like you're doing a great job. The liquids will start going down easier soon enough. I'm 3 weeks out an don't have to take such tiny sips all the time to get in my fluids, and I've worked my way up to 80 oz of fluid a day.

Wow! I could not get that much fluid in in that short a period of time! You say that after you wake, you have about 21 sips of water, then shortly after, a cup of broth, and a cup of SF jello. It might be an idea to try and have either a cup of broth or a SF jello and then wait 10 miutes or so before deciding to have the other component for breakfast. I am 12 days out and I can only manage 1 serving of SF jello before I am full, and that is observing the requirement of having to water for 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after meals. The key is to eat until you are no longer hungry, not until you are FULL, as so many of us did before surgery.
I hope this helps!

It's normal to be dehydrated int he morning because your body is using your water reserves to run body maintenance functions while you sleep. So I always make sure I have 16oz or more of water before I start my day. Early out from surgery, this was really hard. But it gets easier! Drink up!
That empty hollow, maybe even nauseaus feeling can be a sign of dehyration.

I was sleeved on 4/12 and feel "empty" in the am too. I usually have a few sips of water then wait for a bit and have some yogurt. Be careful taking that many sips of water. A cup of broth maybe too much at one sitting. I can only have about 2-3 ounces at a time. Being over filled with liquid can hurt.
Sounds all normal and each day is better

I'm always surprised to read about so many people having yogurt right after surgery.
My doctor was so strict! He had us on liquids for 21 days after surgery. Wow, to have yogurt, can't even imagine it.
I think it sounds like you are doing great.
My issues right after surgery were just not being able to drink enough, and feeling cold all the time.
I still have trouble drinking, but thank goodness I do not feel cold anymore, or very little.
