Hi Elise, Believe it or not - Toothpaste, not gel but the white stuff. Rub on just a bit and leave a dab. It helps draw out whatever is doing it's thing. The sooner the better. Also, amazing for bee stings, I keep a travel size in my car just in case. . Good luck!

I know what you mean about being scared they'll reschedule. I came down with strep throat four days before surgery. I was not about to tell my surgeon but the white spots all over my throat would've been a dead giveaway. I went to a walk in clinic and told them my fears so they gave me two shots and let me double up on antibiotics and sure enough the last white spot on my throat was gone that morning!! whew.... been waiting way too long to have something get in my way!! lol. just don't scratch whatever you do ha ha! good luck :)

You can also put an ice pack on the bites to help you not itch.  Weird rashes and reactions to bites or even the sun run in my family - so all of the above suggestions work, but ice or even a cool rag will help ease that itching sensation.  Plus putting just the cool rag or ice pack on stops you from scratching at the itch absentmindedly.
