Has anyone had this done? I am sooo tired of being blind and using glasses or contact lenses. I was thinking of taking advantage of the time off work when I am post op and getting Lasik eye surgery about two weeks after my vsg surgery. I am planning to get at least 3 weeks off work.

I had Lasik years ago. I had it on their last Friday afternoon appointment. They gave me Tylenol PM and sent me home to bed. I woke up Saturday morning (wearing the awesomely beautiful eye protectant plastic *glasses* you have to wear) and I could see the clock across the room!! It was awesome. I don't regret it at all - and highly recommend Lasik. The cost paid for itself in less than two years as I had an astigmatism and the cost of glasses and contacts was ridiculous for me!

My only concern is that post-VSG it takes you a bit more to get your water end and prevent dehydration. I still have days where I wake up and my eyes are dry. This is something that could be a side effect of Lasik - but it is not one that I have ever had until now. Now I can tell if I got my water in - just by how my eyes feel in the morning. As a precaution - if I were you - I would ask for the prescription eye drops you can get after Lasik. They are quite expensive, but I think in this scenario - totally worth it!

Oh yeah! I forgot all about the groovy sunglasses. I actually wore those glasses for a long time after because they go around the sides of your head and block the sun better. The sun is pretty bright here in Colorado most days since we are closer to the sun.

We have the same Doc.

I still can't figure out why he doesn't show up under my avatar.

Wow I haven't seen anyone else with the same dr as me so far. How was your experience with Dr Metz? Have I chose the right dr? I see his name in your avatar :)

Thanks. I have astigmatism too and suuuuper dry eyes. I hate waking up blind every morning, lol. I want to schedule a free consultation. How much did you pay total?

I had mine done in the midwest - so was more than it costs here in Cali.  My fiance had his done here in Cali for about $1500 total only. And that was with astigmatism in both eyes as well.

Omg! What a great price! I was thinking it would be close to $5000. Where in Cali did he have it done?

He lived in the Inland Empire of Southern California at the time.  He can't remember the exact city.  lol.  It was almost 5 years ago.  Even mine in the midwest was only about $3000 I think.  Something like that.  If it's $5000 now - I would be shocked!  I would hope that it has only gone down in the time.
