Day 2 of this Pre-Op diet and I have been hungry since I started. So happens Aunt flow came to town yesterday too and I always want to eat a house when she comes!

How did people do this? I'm trying so hard not to cheat, and to think I have 10 more days of this just makes me want to cry.

It was tough, but I just kept thinking about the surgery and this new life I was going to start. And that this pre-op diet was just a small sacrifice I would have to make. Not only that but it was the start of lifestyle changes and daily decisions to stay on the plan the surgeon/NUT instructed me to. Use this time to get yourself used to being a plan that may be difficult at first, but is so worth all the rewards of being healthier and seeing that scale move in a postive direction.

Head hunger is the worst.  Whether your really hungry or not, your head tells you EAT, then throw in hormones that are SCREAMING eat whatever makes you happy.   I find drinking something warm ( tea) helps me feel like I am getting something substantial.   Get busy doing something and good luck.

If it's any consolation, I think the pre-op diet is the hardest part.  It's harder than the surgery itself, and the post-op diet (at least in my opinion).

I don't really know how people make it through.  I had only one day pre-op of clear liquids and that day was awful.  Really just awful.  But it is SO worth it.

My dear you just dont have 10 days of it...you have a lifetime of this... surgery doesnt remove it whatsoever. It is a long journey of working on behaviours and changing habits.... old habits that die hard...
Get your head on straight...focus at what you are doing...work on a behaviour mod plan n follow it through... you will be thankful u did.

The pre-op diet really is the hardest part, as someone else said.  I tried to keep busy, drank lots of fluids and ate lots of sugar free popsicles.  Fear is also a powerful thing!  I didn't want to do anything that could jeopardize the surgery or put me at extra risk, so, whenever I got to the point I was ready to eat anything that wasn't bolted down, I kept reminding myself of this.  Also, lots of folks here said after the 3rd day, it gets easier, and it did get a little easier for me.  Hang in there, you'll be so glad you did!  Good luck and keep us posted too.

I don't think anything is quite so hard as the Pre-Op diet, especially if you're doing all liquids.  You have to restrict calories without the assistance that surgery will provide.

You have got to keep your eyes on the prize.  How are you going to get through it?  One day at a time.  Just for today, you are going to follow your food plan.  Summon up all the willpower you have and white-knuckle your way through.  This is *your* choice, not something anyone else is making you do.

Remember that saying that everybody wants to get to heaven but nobody wants to die?  You have to go through the hard part to get the benefits of surgery.  Keep in mind that it will be MUCH easier once you get on the other side.

Drin****il you float away.  YOU CAN DO IT!!
